New Character Viewer

Hey everyone! (Wow, Valor is everywhere on the forums today :P) While it probably isn't much of an accomplishment, I have finally gotten another PHP character viewer online on the Valor website. So far, not really many unique features to show off that separate it from the rest, except that this was used in PHP 4.1 which is a slightly older version. http://www.gamma-designs.com/cgi/valor/profile.php?char=theck (Replace Theck with your character name) I know it took me a while to figure out how to get XML parsing working on PHP 4.1, and it sucked not being able to use the nice library given to us on these forums, but I wanted to let everyone know of this new one so that people that are in my situation can get help on how to go about making one in PHP 4.1. Note there are still some bugs, mainly with inputting an invalid name (lol), and there are a few pieces of data (skills) still missing, but all in all it should be working fairly smooth. Huzzahs are in order! To let everyone in on the irony, I had PM'd Theck this very morning (before the post) offering to help get one up. But who needs Snarky? Not Valor, that's for sure! I like the look and (since I mentioned it in the PM) will go ahead and say I like the website as well. For a minimalist view, what you have is perfect, I say. Only thing I notice missing is gold and PvP wins, but the overall design is great. I'm tossing you guys onto the list of Known Character Viewers now. |

Thanks Snarky! A few fixes to date for today, making the viewer 95% fully operational: - Linking to an invalid character page no longer explodes your browser :P - Character Gold and PvP has been implimented. - A link to the other two character viewers, as well as MythicalJeff's icon viewer have been added. -------------------- "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."

Hey everyone, A few updates to be noted: - Skills are now implimented and working! - I made the colorizer for Rainbow items ALOT better. Don't everyone look at once, the site may go down :P -------------------- "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."

I think it's the prettiest display to my eye of any of them. I was surprised to see my avatar-pic in there. Uhm... sorry 'bout my server being down this past week. :P Guess I should post the php for generating that. I let my website lapse from time to time, so it makes me nervous to have folk relying on it for much. It's not that I'm concerned about bandwidth or any such thing, but rather just concerned that your character viewer might look broken some time (as it must have last week) and that'll be my fault... Anyway... thanks! Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately that is not the case. The lib.xml.inc.php is in the right place, and is exactly how it was all configured in the old server. The problem is that for some reason, the new version of PHP is screwing with the outbound connection, and it can't get a feed from the dungeon runners URL. Also, wherever it says "no input file specified" that actually just means that there is no file there. Try anything .php and it will show the same. Basically, PHP's equivalent of a 404. -------------------- "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."
