An introduction
#51594 - 03/19/08 12:30 AM

Hi all, first time poster, long time reader.

My name is James Cleaveland (weird, there is a dungeon with my name, fate?), and I joined the DR team about two months ago as a Tech. Artist. I've been meaning to get in here for an introduction, but between writing tools and integrating art into the new engine, I've had my hands pretty full.

One thing I did feel was important to come in here and tell you guys was that your voices are definitely heard, which is something I very much want to be a part of. There was a thread a week ago or so inquiring about dev responses, or more specifically, the selectivity of dev responses. Naturally, most of the questions from players involve aspects of gameplay, so I will generally wait for a more informed designer to chime in before I add my 2 cp. However, please assault me with questions on all things art or engine related

Of course, if you feel that something needs particular attention that doesn't seem to be receiving its due, please feel free to PM me. Good feedback makes a good game.

*edit:
I just realized my name still isn't red, hopefully that will get resolved.

Thanks!

Well as most people now know, we're in the process of ditching our old engine which is highly inflexible. As a result, we're having to create a lot of tools for our artists during this conversion process to get our game into the new engine as efficiently as possible. I'm sure this is all a bit boring to the players (except a few!), but the more efficient the process is, the faster we can get new content to you, and the happier we all are.

Beyond that I also have been working on painting/modeling new armor sets, quest items, and certain other things that will remain unmentioned.

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone.

Hooboy, you guys are peer pressuring me into doing something I really want to, but I fear the wrath of Stephen. Why is it wrong if it feels so right? I suppose you'll have to wait a bit to see what's been cookin', since the particular... thing... I'm alluding to is right in the middle of production. </tease>

Probably a wise decision. I've heard that Stephen possess the Dark Art of Summoning a Fearse Frump that will smithe us with his annoying knockback.

Oh man, is it just something like guild housing that we know of or is it something entirely insane and new?
