Valor Hosts a Drop Party!

Hey everyone,

Valor has been around for a month now, and we would like to thank the community for their support in our rise to what we are now. As such, we would like to give back to the community by hosting a fairly large scale drop party!

During this event, we will be running around Townston dropping literally hundreds of purple items (possibly even some Rainbows) ranging anywhere from levels one to thirty, of every class and type. We have 10 fully stocked Guild Bank pages of purples for this party, and we're droppin' em all!

Date/Time/Place

Date: Thursday, March 20th, 2008
Time: 2:00 PM PST (Pacific Standard Time)
Place: Townston, World 7 (Free to Play)

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

So, bring your extra loot-bags, and an empty inventory, and prepare to see Townston covered in a nice shade of Magenta. On behalf of the guild, thank you to everyone who has supported us with enthusiasm, even when there was a high doubt that we would ever even get off of our feet. Valor is going strong, and we hope to stick around amongst this great community for a while yet!

See you all there!

Hecks yeah, I'll be there helping my bud Theck with his droppage. I'm sure that there will be something for everyone; our banks are FULL of tons of awesome purples that we are just giving away. Hope to see you there!

They're probably dropping "soulbound" items.

PS: Don't drop too much or the place is going to be full of items (that we can't get).

They seem to be smart people ... highly doubt they are dropping soulbound items. Some people do actually give away items. Fairly common in my experience but then I have been playing for awhile.

We smart enought to know not to drop Soulbound items.

We dropping the items because we not the type of people who only care about our in game wealth. We feel we strengthen the community within the game, the game will be a better environment, so on and so forth.

We really do have a TON of items in our banks and we need to get rid of them. So instead of just selling them back, we will give them to people who need them. (Granted by dropping the items we run the risk of the selfish people who really do not need the items, grabbing them to sell to others at a jacked up price, but we cannot do anything about that)

So peep the event guys, and see what you guys can get.

Heh guys,

Just to clarify:

1) We are in fact intelligent (thanks Joe)
2) What would the point of a guild bank be if everything was already Soulbound?
3) Valor doesn't need all these items, and the greater good would just be to give the items away instead of selling them and having no one truly benefit.

So anyone that wants some better gear, come on down on Thursday!

I looked over your Guild Bank a day or two ago on your website. Is it up to date? There weren't many items when I looked then, and I think everything is around level 20. =)

LOL great question, knew itwas going to come up.

That is part of the reason we are wiping and starting over.

The guild bank had about 6 pages of items when the actual online guild bank system was programmed by me. We decided that we were going to wipe the bank with the release of the system, and then put in every item AS IT WAS donated, instead of sitting at a computer for long hours inputting 9 pages of purples.

Basically, that is about 1/3 of one page, and we never got any more than that updated.

UPDATE

The party is tomorrow everyone, and now we have an added perk for the more higher level players:

- Throughout the course of the drop party, we will be dropping ~10 high level (50-90) rainbow items!

Everyone is welcomed to participate, so come on down, tomorrow on world 7!

Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone,

(3:06 PM)

Well, the event seemed to be a moderate success. Valor guild members Theck, Alkarius, Phlemo, Kazea, LoMac, HiMac, SheMac, Haylia, Atalar, and Spinz all emptied their banks in this huge drop event of well over 200 purple or higher items.

I must say, you all are quick! Even with 4 guildies dropping things at a time, all the purples were snatched up almost instantly. I even saw one of the rainbows I threw down get snatched up in mid-air LOL.

However, it was great fun, and I'm hoping that some of you all got items that you could use.

My only complaint is that a couple of the high levels were spamming speed potions and following our droppers. This kind of ruined some parts of the event, as most of our drops were levels 1-30 and the lower levels could not keep up.

Overall though, the community was very good about the event. You should have seen all of our members' screens, everything was purple with a huge load of tells - We were expecting that, but wow, you guys sure brought it Our site was swarmed, and our host actually was overran and went down (crappy host). To summarize, we got even more attention than we were planning for, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Thank you once again DR community, and I hope we were able to give back to you all!

Just a suggestion for next time, if you are going to another of these events, please consider that not everyone has a Thursday afternoon off from work or school.

Consider having this on a Friday evening or a Saturday and you'll get even more interest from those who want to participate but cant because of other obligations.....like paying the rent and keeping the lights on.

You cannot please everyone. Bear in mind that DR players are spread across very diverse time zones.

Never said anything about timezones Necro... I'm not talking about what time, I'm referring to what day...

A Weekend or at least a Friday night would give more people who otherwise have to work or go to school the opportunity to participate.

No, and I really couldn't care less. If I can, nice. If I can't, meh. Plus, I don't think the drops were in my level range. Does it matter if I have or not? You sound almost accusatory.

lol Nec, seen you all over the Valor posts. Seems you have some kinda anger against them starting up a guild before guilds have been introduced in DR. Also they're new to DR so I think it's just fun they're this serious about it.

Theck, hope it worked out fine. Sorry I couldn't be there for the fun. I had to leave just a coupel of hours before to make dinner and stuff, and today I'm out partying but see you around after my hangover have weared off. :P

... Anger? Why would you think that? I don't feel any anger emanating from any of my posts in Valor's threads, and being angry for the reason you specified is completely illogical... The post you quoted was aimed at Cthulhu's post:

Since he stressed "you", it felt like he was accusing me of something.

Ah, yeah, that's true. Reading your post previous to this last one had a negative ring to it, but as you said, it's towards another answer and not the topic-post itself. My bad. *humbly admits*

@ Necro:

I wasn't accusing you of anything so no need to get defensive.

Since you made the implication first that I was "not pleased" because I missed the event, I was only asking if you had gotten to participate since you were the only one to question my suggestion. If you HAD gotten to participate, and you were giving me a hard time over the fact that I made the suggestion to change the event date next time, I would have said that was the pot calling the kettle black.

You didn't go, or care to go so it doesn't matter. No way I could have known that till you spoke up so thank you for that.

If you look at your original post in direct response to me:
Quote:

You cannot please everyone. Bear in mind that DR players are spread across very diverse time zones.

That sure looks like an implication that I was being a "sore loser" for not getting to go.

Another misunderstanding brought to you courtesy of Dungeon Runners....

Now, lets all join hands around the campfire and sing "Kum By Yah" and sway to the song and make nice....

I applaude Theck. They are fairly new to game but taking it pretty serious. I know one of my friends logged in to give guild Valor a few bank pages of skittles to use for guild/item drop. Maybe now I will keep all the rbws I get to give to them as I rather give to people who are trying something new in game and could use.

Like most lvl 100s who farm abby, we usually drop the rbws on the ground by the obselik rather then selling them, but instead of doing that I will keep em and give to Theck, to help the cause.

*Agreed

I don't mind giving rbs away, but I'd rather they go to someone who can use them/ has a purpose for them. If Valor is going to drop them to the crowd, there's no telling where the items will end up, but if they're to be used (initially, at least) towards an event then that's good enough for me.

So...next time you guys are doing a drop party, or if you just need some items for your members, let me know.

Thank you for the support guys.

In fact, I think I actually forgot to mention that in my post-event post.

The amount of support we received from the community was great; alot of people donated to us, which enabled us to drop items that were geared to more higher level players, which was really cool because we originally had nothing for the higher levels.

So thank you for your continued support guys, and when we build up our bank again we'd be happy to do another.

I'm sorry if I came across as offensive guys. I'll watch my tone in the future... I assure you, I did not mean to accuse anyone, and I should be less sensitive to these things myself. Apologies for hijacking your thread Theck, and great work on the drop party. =)
