Whats on the cards for the future?
#51335 - 03/16/08 09:38 PM

Hail!
I downloaded DR the other day, paid my membership fees for the better items, stackable heal pots and no ads then played my way up to level 15. I ploughed my way down to the bottom of a few dungeons, joined some groups and generally had fun.

It is cool game and slick at what it offers but I got a bit bored of it all by the time I hit level 15 and at no point over the weekend did I notice more than 150 people on world 1.

The most recent content update is cool and all but what features are planned for the future?

Thanks!

Welcome.... and to best answer your very general question, it would benefit you the most just to browse the forums. Could also search for "posses" "crafting" .... But browsing will be your best option. The game is obviously in its growing stage, and content additions are pretty much in the air until the moment they are revealed in upcoming patch notes a few weeks (ideally) before they're supposed to drop. I personally love the surprise, lol. Good luck.

Good question! We really need to get a regular "what's in development" posting out to you. I've hinted at some things that are coming in some other various posts... but it's still to annoying to find easily.

In short, we continually add more items, skills, dungeons and monsters to the game. We also add major features on a somewhat regular basis. However, this game is about running dungeons... so most features and content revolve around that.

I'll see what I can do to get a more regular posting up about our development plans. Sorry it hasn't been done already.

Thanks for your reply Stephen.

Regular posted developer plans would be excellent.

I am sure there is a lot to still experience in the game and it is cool to be able to log in, join a group and get hacking without much hassle at all so I'll definitely be playing for the forseable future.

Thanks!

My advice to enjoy Dungeon Runners to the fullest... play responsibly.

I find the game to be most enjoyable about 2 hours at a time once or twice a week. The game is designed around short play sessions. Of course, nothing is stopping you from playing as much as you want... but running dungeons is bound to get stale if you do it too long in a single session.

Just my $0.02.

I have been running Room of Creation for a week straight now and still haven't gotten tired of it. This is one great game. Just wish the later bosses dropped enough gold to replace my potions like that boss does.

Steve, it would be great if one of you would take a few minutes on a regular basis to update the blog. Another game that shall not be named has a fantastic "Developer Blog Thread" on the boards where one of the devs posts bullets like this:

Quote:

12-17
- Bugfixing! Frankly, more bugs crept in this build than I'm really comfortable with. While none of them are exactly catastrophic, the net effect makes me grumpy. Trying to cram a lot in before a hard vacation deadline, and we just didn't catch as many of these as we would have liked. Apologies to all of you, and thanks for putting up with the mess.
- We've gathered a load of issue reports from you, and are plugging away at those. You can see a partial list in the other post in this area about reported issues. I'll try to keep a reasonable running tally.
- Fixed the chat pane issues that sent stuff to the wrong place
- Fixed achievement scrollbar showing up above worldmap
- Fixed damage displays. Again. But we'll triple-check it this time.
- Looking into the various Hireling issues and stats issues now
- Nerfed Mantis attacks that were so insane to 1/3rd
- Put Ping back where it belongs. What the heck was up with that?
- Investigating those 'pauses' that people are seeing. We think this is related to some Single Core code. If you have a Dual-Core and are seeing these, PLEASE let me know, as that will shoot the theory right down.
- Marsh fixed Quest Tracking unchecking on zone
- Luck issues fixed
- Working on getting Friendslist nicks back - looks like it'll happen!
- Fixed hireling item-dropping issue
- Still workin' - the day is young!

12-18
- Still bugfixing!
- Fixed ( hopefully ) the inventory de-equip thing during zoning
- Colossi are looking good - we THINK this might have been a merge issue with the last patch but are trying to make double sure
- Resists update properly in char sheet on change
- speed bonuses display properly in char sheet
- Friends list Ignore Offline works properly
- Nicknames are almost done getting put back in
- Fixed crazy urax firewall spell ( and Harduk's while we were at it )
- Fixed recall charm issue in carniv canyon
- Made Harduk, the Dino boss, and Zivia resistant to different elemental types, and more resistant to interrupts
- Fixed issue where pets didn't give XP if they were far away
- Fixed Tracker's Helm display issue
- Fixed chat not scrolling with wheel when Achievements were open
- Brightened up colored item text for easier readability
- Pets in epic mode don't get the speed/awareness bonuses that enemies do now
- other odds and ends

We're hoping to get almost everything basically fixed before we leave so that we can get this out as fast as humanly possible immediately after break. Sorry for the bumps in the road, but we'll get 'em smoothed out for you.

12-19
- Last day in office before break! We're flying down south tomorrow.
- Fixed a bunch of remaining things today -
- Party interactions from portraits work even if you aren't in the same instance/level
- Ditto for friends context menu/guilds
- Friendslist clipping issues fixed
- Fixed Hail of Magma not showing missiles appropriately on client
- Fixed various skill cooldown issues
- Fixed issue with fast-clicking doing skill expenditure overrun and wasting your skill points!
- Friendslist nicknames are back
- Fixed some corpse explosion damages
- Reflection removed from bosses - too devastating without real damage tuning going on at higher levels. We'll put it back when it doesn't one-shot you high-damage-dealers
- Made more boss dungeons farmable
- Phoenix cooldown fix
- Antidote durations protect against stone
- Adrenaline Rush/Thick Skin issue fixed

- Fired off a build - with any luck it will go into our internal test center tomorrow, and get some good testing before the break, while we're all in-transit to San Francisco. That won't be enough to get it out the door, but that's how hard we're pushing on getting this ready so that we can get it out as fast as possible when we can get back and assure that it is solid - just as a heads up.

Some sort of very small regular update like that would rox our sox off!

Oh my.. at lvl 15 you're no where near the really good stuff. I started really having fun at lvl 40 when I could reach some of the cooler dungeons and bosses.

There is something satisfying about bashing your way through a throng of monsters and laying waste to a dungeon. I have no idea why.. I thought it would get old but it didn't.

Steven: I thought posses and improved group options were coming out this last update and was dissapointed. Yes.. easier to find dev info would be awesome.

No no no... from experience this doesn't sound right at all. Every second spent reporting to us is less time eating or less time with missus, kids or animal of choice.

Never less time actually developing.. no way. Most developers find so many other ways to spend less time developing that are so much less justifiable

That would be great. I try to go through the forums almost daily for new "inside info" to put on the news-section on The Lordships so a thread just for that would be more than welcome. Makes my job much easier, thus leaving more time for actuall gaming. ^^

Dungeon Runners is the only online game that i DON'T get bored of.
Like Steven has said, it's best to play in small doses, I only play once or twice a week for an hour or two with my mate and we have a cracking time!
It's gonna take us quite a while before we reach level 100 too lol, so by the time we get there a lot more content will of been added.
