PHP Dungeon Runners Library
#51098 - 03/14/08 12:00 AM |
Introduction: Well, thanks to talking with Lord Magnus over the past two days and having taken a week off of work to play host to some friends, I've had the time/desire to get my library up and running. I just finished off the initial version, which is not slick at all. Its just a start, but I figured I'd post what I have so I can get some comments. The functions you see may change in slickness, but the general input/output won't change drastically. Installation: To "install" this library, download the zip file that is found here: http://threeplanetssoftware.com/software/dr/php_dr_library.zip Unzip this into the directory you want the viewer to reside in. Please note, there's no directory inside the zip, as there's currently only two files. Requirements: All that's required to use this library is php5 installed on your web server, and the web server should allow exec() callouts. The final requirement is your server needs wget installed, which will be on any Linux server you might rent. I'd guess any Linux server should meet the above criteria. Use: Code:
The code is decently documented, so to see what functions are available, open Character.php and browse to your leisure. Attachments: The included file, character_example.php, is a sample character viewer. It doesn't do much, just spit out all of a characters information in a very ugly manner. But it should give you an idea of how to use this library. Edited by Snarky (03/14/08 12:22 AM) |

Well, unfortunately I can't edit my post anymore, but this code is now going to live at: http://threeplanetssoftware.com/software/php_dr_library/ I'm tossing a page up now that'll include a changelog, usage, and examples. |

Very nice work. I'm sure this will help me out in my attempts at making a char viewer. I uploaded the files to my host and got an error when running the character_example.php file. The host has php5, not sure about wget. The error is: Call to undefined method SimpleXMLElement::getName() on line 187. I sent my host a message, maybe they'll figure it out. |

Hey Thysam, not sure why I didn't see your message earlier. This most likely means you don't have simplexml in your php install, but hopefully you've got this figured out by now... My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. |

Version .2 I've been working on DRCSL behind the scenes all weekend, and have a second version to put out. There's some significant changes (and still yet to come, but I felt like putting something out tonight) some please see the changelog for more detail. To sum it up:
The new version is up now at the old location: Zip file. You may also notice from the page for it that I've made changes to the MWE (MediaWiki Extension). This is actually currently up on TheTownstons, ugly as can be. LR and I are working to improve the look, and I'll release the first version of that whenever we have something decent. Now, I don't want to clutter up TheTownstons, but if you want to try it out, go to your user page and enter {{#drcsl: Segfault}} (or your character). That example can be seen here. Have a lovely evening, as always feedback is appreciated. Also I'm specifically looking for someone to test this out on another site so I can see it in action. If you're interested, PM me and I'll do all I can to help you get it set up so I can judge its ease of use. |

Quote: Totally no problem, as long as its a subpage of your own user page. If you register as misterpoop, your personal page will be User:misterpoop. To make a subpage simple do: User:misterpoop/newpage, which means thats a subpage, both the user page and the subpages of a user page are for the members themselves, and you are free to do anything in it, as long as it doesnt has content for 18+ ect lol |

Hey Snarky, Check your links on the last post for the zip file and changelog. They both have a 127.0.0.1 location in the url - oops. |
