Nail in the coffin for pvp..for me anyway
#50464 - 03/07/08 10:27 PM

Grouping is officially ruined. Whatever changes were made this patch are horrid as far as groups go. I fought 3 100s tonight and at 86k health, full rb gear, shield and 1 hander got crushed. Flame away and say what you will but that has never heappened the way it did tonight. I couldnt move due to 2 chill bills, fear, shout etc.

There are safeguards against this in solo matches but not when u solo vs groups. No way the top of my screen should be so filled all the icons are minimized to show all the curses im under.

In between drops being horrid and now pvp..having to wait for a match just to go up against a group where I cant move is too much. Why take the fun outta the game?

You do realise this isn't a new thing? I used to get two dozen minimised icons over my head when I solo against groups all the time before the patch.

LOL, nothing challenging about being slow stacked for 7 mins. I can beat anyone in the game so its not like Im a noob and have no experience to back it up. Something tells me your not facing groups of 100s but rather groups under 50.
My alt has no problem with groups his level 10-75. This is about 100s. So unless you are fighting groups of 100s thanks for the input but its not revelant to this discussion.

I have fought groups of 100s. I understand what you're complaining about. Is it challenging? To me, obviously, it is.. finding a way to beat my opponents is more productive than always whining how unfair it is.
When you lose, adjust to the tactics. There's always a way.

True, Necro. Nothing changed, as far as I can see.

Wrong once again. Try fighting a group with 2 chill bills. Also unless I am wrong, you are still a level 10 or 15 whatever. With the new matching system, you are not fighting groups of 100s with u as a solo.

Also, dont be condescending and tell me whats a challenge and that I am whining. I can beat you solo with my level 32 or level 100, so skill level is not the question.

I have been pvping since day 1 so I am well aware of what is vs what was. Maybe its a chill bill problem.

Nice try Jay. But you dont know who I get matched against solo. The new matching system is based on attributes, so yes, I still get matched against the lev 100s grouped.
And as far as your win record on your 32 or 100, the last times we've been matched you lost. It doesn't happen all the time, but I do beat you... and you come out of the matches whining that I cheat.

This is the last I'm posting on this discussion, because all you will further do is continue to post negatives, and that's not worth my time.

He is somewhat right...the tight-arena corridor and Chill Bill seem to complicate things...first of all, the mana cost for summoning Chill Bill is ridiculously too low, any semi-intelligent warrior/ranger can summon him now, and I noticed Chill Bill pulls off knockbacks (hope I'm not mistaken). Anyway, this slowing debuff stacking seems to occur with warriors...holy roller, unnerving shout maybe even butcher keep you stunned non stop, it happened to my char when i battled two warriors solo, not counting Chill Bill(s), I was constantly slowed down, disoriented and God knows what...they had dual wield, so their skills reloaded much faster, so if I got one to 10% of his HP, he and his mate holy rollered me a few times and pulled the shout leaving me running in the same spot while they got healed...I'm not saying they cheated or that I'm mad over the loss, the outcome was 4:6 but it still seems to me such groups have a bit of an unfair advantage over an individual.

The only time you have ever beaten me was on my 32 and it was when you were using the weapon swtich cheat. since they took that exploit away from you, it would be like it always was before 6-1 or 7-0 matches.

Funny I havent been matched against a twink since the new patch.

Jay is right, though I have more of a problem with the new PvP arena than with the Chill Bill spell.

I agree that the new PvP Arena is somewhat squishy, and also that Chill Bill's slowing effect does have a part: but in truth, Chill Bill's slow isn't all that much. Besides, there is a maximum amount of slowing effect that can accumulate, and I think Ice Bolt/Holy Roller + Shout already caps it off, so an extra bit of Chill Bill frost won't debuff you more. Personally, I think Chill Bill's advantage isn't his debuffs, but rather the fact he blocks enemy attacks (and diverts Shadow Bolt...) and has a knockback effect, which occurs quite frequently (1/3).

As to the match-making system: The current system does not, in fact, stop you from being matched with someone too weak/too strong for you. I have no idea how it is supposed to work, but I have been matched with groups of level 100s half decked with Rainbows, as well as a level 10 who died under three Shadow Bolts and managed to deduct 1% of my HP every time he hits.
