Generally its going to be decided by your gear and how you want your char to play Rangers need high Agility to hit hard and often. so that is always a good thing to put points into also they need to live so some into endurance isnt a bad choice either. If your gear is leaning heavy into one you may want to put some into the other. But ultimately its going to depend on how you play. (edit) Also read the boards Alex there are a lot of threads like this one where great rangers have put in there two cents worth. one of the great things about MMO's is that you can get other peoples opinions on everything and anythign if you take the time to Read the Boards. Like naprox said passive are just that Passive as long as they are in your bar they are always active. If you purchase them but do not put them in bar they will not work. Thus the reason why you could not click on them. |

An added nugget of wisdom for you would be to use the combination of Gym Freak, Average BMI, and Trigger Happy as your passive skills. I find this to be a great setup as a crit ranger -------------------- Plaguebringer - Level 7x Crit Ranger |

In every dungeon, there is a portal to the next dungeon's outpost on level 5 and past the Boss chamber. So in Algernon level 5, there is a portal to Algor's Terror Dome Base Camp, and past the treasure room in Sissirat's Lair there is another portal to the same place. The boss portal is one way only while the level 5 portals are always two way. |

It would seem that in your particular situation Alex, that you should just concentrate on doing every level, in order, with all of its subdungeons. That way you won't ever miss any dungeons, content, or places to finish quests. If you enter a dungeon on level one, you will get all the way to level 5 where you will find the "basecamp" for the next set of dungeons - but I would go back into the level 5 and continue down to 6 and 7, then through the boss so you don't get lost. Also, you should do a search for JoeB's Map build here on forums - it seems like it would help you a lot... errr. nm I'll save you the trouble... #51162 - 03/14/08 07:57 PM |
Well, thank you for apologizing Alex, but I think that you need to realize one thing.... Being 14 YOU'RE the minority, not the majority. I would say that MOST of the serious players are around 30 at least (maybe that's just on w7 in this particular game, but still) and this being your first mmo ever (as you state in your sig) you don't have that much background to draw from. You were definitely wrong in making an sssumption about the "age" of gamers - as the average age of ALL gamers in general is 30 (video games, computer games, etc). I can understand why that person took offense to you and quickly cut you free. Most people don't tolerate being "chastized" (in a way) by someone they see as a child - especially since that person probably HAS children older than yourself. Almost all of the people I know that play any MMO are around 25 or so. My best friends online are easily in their 30s and 40s and most have children, families, and serious jobs they have by day, so they come here (and to all other games online) to "get away". Don' forget how old the people are who MAKE this game, btw. If it wasn't for the 40 yr olds behind the screen there wouldn't BE DR. I mean, you don't think that 14 yr olds are making this game for other 14 yr olds to play right? Or even 18 or 21 yr olds for that reason. The money and time comes from us "older" people - of which I'M not even to 30 yet (27) but have two children and do spend a lot of time here trying to contribute while having a good time and making good friends. Now, in saying that, the other side of the coin is your "lack" of age. You're below the average, and the game is rated "teen", which you're creeping in by. Is this game something you just came by, or were you recommended it? And my next question would be if your parents know you play (not saying that sarcastically or as a pun, but seriously) and if not - are you hiding it because you think they would disapprove because of who THEY would assume would be playing? I am an advocate of anyone playing as long as they prove their maturity - and I think you've been doing alright based on the forums, but you just need to think about the "big picture" and who makes it up before you go questioning what's "appropriate", since personally (and no offense towards you in particular or anyone) I believe, with a great majority of my online friends, that 14 is much too young to be playing ANY online game unless you're having direct supervision with a parent while playing, or your parents have explicit knowledge of the games content and particular type of humour and community. So.... I'm not chastizing by any means - that's not my job. But I undertsand why you were kicked, and for good reasoning. Apologizing was the right thing to do (and thank you again for whomever it was), and I'm not sure if you were generalizing about w7 or any other world, but I assure you that they are FULL of 30 and 40 somethings that would respond the same everyday. Sometimes doing any kind of growing up you gotta take your lumps I suppose eh? ![]() |

While I agree with most that was said, I have something to add. While he may have been a little insensitive with his question about the age of someone playing, I think a better reaction could have occurred as well. Instead of kicking someone who is young enough to think pretty much anyone over the age of 18 is old, explain to him the way that teclis did in his post. I mean he is only 14, at least he has an excuse to be immature. I find it more immature to attack him in the world chat or refer to him as a troll for asking that question. I've seen worse questions in this game by far and he attempted to apologize in the world chat and took it a step farther by apologizing on the forums as well. -------------------- ~Lady Vady~ LadyVady - 100 MsAbbyNormal - 33 When in charge, ponder. Great points by all: Teclis, LadyV and DW. There really isn't time or space to type out a lengthy explanation In Game, especially if the players are working in a specific time-frame. I think Alex will be alright if he concentrates on playing and chatting about the game. ![]() The real problem with youngsters and not-so-youngsters getting together is that the subject matter quickly becomes confusing to the younger person. (I know, WE get confused too!) but the fact is 14YOs and 30YOs talk about different things entirely. And, let's face it - a good bit of the talk on W7 is not game-related at all so there really is very little common ground, unless it is a VERY sophisticated 14YO. So ... I think it's all good as long as no one tries to overcompensate and it starts getting weird. ![]() -------------------- Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. - Arthur C. Hey! Yeah i get yall now... i am "immature" compared to all of you guys... (obviously..) I know that with the 20 or so years of age diff. there aint many this in common.. but that is why i try to... (example in the forums i made the Topic of music... and i carry on trying to communicate with you guys which i find really enjoying.. As for my gaming life...... I have always loved to play games on PC (duhh :P), but only in recent years i have played online games (3 or 4)... i did play another game that you might have seen on the other topic that i made about "Other Games": Track mania Nations. I Played it all the time... (like 2 or 3 h a day) and i really liked it (maby you can check it out)... it is much more popular then this game, not saying that it more fun, but there are about 5000 active users with 3 million full downloads of the actual game. anyway i was really into it, i even made my own clan with 60 members that joined, i was one of the "top" moats popular guys around.. mostly because i chatted loads.. (and about 10% of the ppl that played where over 25. That is why i didn't think when i said the thing of age. and as for my English: i think that you should know that i have only lived in England for 2 years, my parents are Christian Missionaries in Italy, sop if you see me spelling words like "sayed" instead of "said" please forgive me :P And thanx Darkwanderer hope to see you there..![]() -------------------- AlexRanger - Lvl 40 with 45 PvP wins - Poison Ranger Member of Dark Wanderers DR Guild |

In response to Lady: yes, it could have been explained/talked about differently in world chat. I wasn't there so I'm definitely not going to get say who was right/wrong or what should have been said - each situation is different and all you guys already know I gnaw on my own foot a good amount of the time, lol. But anyhooo.... In general I think (and I'm included) the people on w7 sometimes shoot from the hip, since we're always wary of others who try to (idavertantly or directly) disturb the "peace" we enjoy in "care-a-lot." Maybe this was just one of those situation and it went bad. BUT, we can always pick up the pieces and move forward! Aplogizing in game and here does show concern and maturity, and I also see no reason as to not group with you in the future like Dark said. I play with Dark as often as I see him online usually, so maybe you can run with me also. And as for any bad feelings that anyone might have had, etc. I wouldn't worry too much. Bad situations pass on W7 all the time, and people MOSTLY forgive and forget for the "smaller" stuff. As long as you don't go asking to get plvled and for free gear - you'll be good, lol. Hi Alex, If the items weren't nice purples or better, they were probably seen as trash dumping (like others have done with quest items). If you have something nice to give away, announce it on the Market channel and if no one asks for it in 5 minutes, sell it. Set your item filter higher and you can ignore the crapola. I'm assuming he meant quest items that he dumped in town, since he said he couldn't sell the items. They (quest items) do disappear, btw. If they were regular items, no matter the ranking, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't have been any complaints. Whether they are a gray or rainbow item, there's always someone who can either use or sell an item. -------------------- ~Lady Vady~ LadyVady - 100 MsAbbyNormal - 33 When in charge, ponder. Quote: This is true they do disappear in around 10-15 minutes. This time limit was dropped because of the influx of noobs that were dropping trash in Townston. It used to be around 20-30 minutes depending on build. The problem isnt regarding the items disappearing over time. But if you have 50 people in Townston and everyone is dumping trash it will cause lag in the game. This is apparent for anyone running on a slower connection or on a lower end computer. It is alot of extra stress that isnt needed. If an item is soulbound (including quest items) have a little courtesy for your fellow runners and drop them in an instance when it will only affect you and not everyone. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Back to a Fighter where he belongs SirOldBottom - Level 49 - Ice Mage Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.110 |

I've got another (revolutionary) idea. Don't pick them up in the first place! Or at least check your inventory before you leave the dungeon and drop it there. Trash your own area. Actually, I just "heard" that if you take them into the HDOL and give them to the 5th monster you kill you will get a super secret extra special bonus. This only works for the under level 25 players. |

If they're in your bank, nothing is effected (as it makes no sense they should be since they're just in your bank - any nonmember now can have as many item members items in their banks as they wish). Now, if they're on your PERSON (i.e. equipped) then it is my understanding they get removed and put into your inventory, as you can no longer use them. You don't just simply lose items either way though. EDIT: ADDED 2 HRS LATER. I completely and utterly somehow missed the (pages 2&3) thing in my thought process until I read Joe's post. Sorry - I definitely don't know what happens to pgs 2 and 3 when you revert or the stuff on them. Sorry... ![]() Edited by Teclis (04/05/08 01:40 PM) |

Not sure this issue has been addressed since we received pages 2 and 3 of bank. I would expect that anything on page 2 and 3 will still be there but you wont be able to access them until you become a member again. Given how equipment on your person is handled. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Back to a Fighter where he belongs SirOldBottom - Level 49 - Ice Mage Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.110 |

That's good to hear. I was talking to someone in game earlier who said he let his membership lapse, and he came back online to find his bank empty. He hadn't renewed his membership, though. ...now if I could just remember his name so I can tell him his bank items should be there when he renews. ![]() -------------------- Nebrius |

My brother has an account that we let expire and now we just basically use it to transfer items. When his membership expired he had items in pages 2 and 3. We were able to move them out of those pages and put them in page 1 or into the character inventory. It tells you those pages aren't available(2 and 3), although you can take the items in those pages out. You just can't put them back in 2 or 3. So to sum that up: they are still there, just move them out of those pages. |

Block chance is only ever modified on Shields almost all if not all shields will increase that stat. |

I am also hoping (along with an ice AoE spell) for a SKILL that gives +% block chance this patch, as for the longest time I have thought with others that it should have always been there for rangers. Something along the lines of a "dodge" passive skill, or even an activated one, to be fair with the "thickheadedness" for stun. |
