arghh! please help me!
#48267 - 02/16/08 10:20 PM |
I'm not sure if its cool to ask for help like this on the forums, but i tried support and they have yet to answer my email, i am addicted to this game lol, and it was working perfectly fine for a while, but now whenever i try to load it, it says it has encountered an unhandled exception and crashes, it does this before i can even get it to load, and instead of loading the game, it just loads an empty black window, then the error ensues, i am running on windows xp home, with a nvidia ti200 vid card, i think 512 mb of ram, and the rest i am unsure of, all i know that might help one of you bright lads is that microsoft says the exceptions number is 001d7049 (the offset number) I wish there was more i could tell you, but i am syumped, i have tried repairing the file and it did nothing, someone please help lol, i really wanna play this game, much obliged. |

Are you sure you have a Geforce3 TI200 video card? If you do it's about 5 years old and is below the minimum spec to run Dungeon Runners. You said you ran the game for a short time and then were unable to run the game getting an "unhandled exception" error. I think you may have something better than that TI200 or you would have not been able to run the game at all. If you right click on your desktop>settings>advanced>adapter and it will tell you exactly what video card you have. Make sure you have the most up to date drivers from Nvidia. Make sure you have the most recent version of Direct X and .NET from Microsoft. Other than that wait for the folks at Support to help you. -------------------- ------------------------------------------------- MamaAnarchia Level 100 Genius Arch Arcane Mage Parkaboy Level 75 Acrobatic Charming Frozen Summoner CayceP Level 28 Muscular Hardened Fanatical Fighter |

If you want to play games, I suggest more RAM for better performance. Around 2 GB should be fine. Some games I know won't even let u start them unless u have 3! -------------------- The above is my thinking . Quote: Wow another pointless post that does not help at all. The amount of RAM is not in question but the video card. This game runs perfectly fine with 512 MB RAM. He can put 8 GB of RAM in the computer it isn't going to matter if the video card is below specs. Dont bother posting an apology to boost your count. To OP you probably wont get alot of help from the tech support being that your card is below spec. Have you changed anything recently? driver updates? If so you may need to roll back. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Back to a Fighter where he belongs SirOldBottom - Level 49 - Ice Mage Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.110 |

U didn't understand the point of my answer, I suggested more RAM for better performance. More RAM would mean less lag time and more playing (usually). I already no about the video card thingy. -------------------- The above is my thinking . lol i stand by my 512mb ram, i can run it 4x AA in 1280x1024 smooth as hell on 512mb ram, and there is no commercially available software that requires a minimum of 3gb of ram right now, so dont listen to this fool. if someone tried to release software that required at least 3gb ram right now in 2008 they'd be pandering to about 5% of the PC owning community, foolish to even think of this. -------------------- Characters: DaisukeJigen - Fighter/Mage FujikoSan - Mage/Ranger LupinTheThird - Ranger/Mage Edited by DaisukeJigen (02/16/08 11:46 PM) |

Then probably u haven't played Halo 2 for PC. Microsoft wants u to have this and that in order to run it! If u ignore their recommendations, ur comp would likely crash. -------------------- The above is my thinking . It could be caused by a variety of things: 1) Your card is unable to handle the game. Since it was working perfectly, however, this seems unlikely. Have you updated or rolled back any drivers recently? It's possible that the card or a component on the card (memory, for example) have failed or are failing. Have you tested any other games? What were the results? 2) It's .NET issue - have you applied any patches to .NET recently? Uninstalling and reinstalling .NET Framework 2.0 might help. Here are the general specs for your card: GPUReview.com 3) It's an AGP card. Have you updated your bios recently? |

oh and somethign relevant to the origional post: i have gotten the game running just fine on cards even worse than the geforce3 (geforce2). your error is most likely due to outdated video drivers or directx easy fix tho http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;displaylang=en that ones for direct x update the hard part is the geforce3, as nvidia no longer supports it. guru3d does have updated drivers for it tho, so its not a total loss http://downloads.guru3d.com/ForceWare-85.98-Win2000/XP-download-1464.html this is the most stable driver available for geforce 2-4. all drivers after this version were optomized for geforce 5 and up. hope this helps, these 2 things worked great to get DR running on a system similar to yours. ohh one last thing too, make sure to disable AA from the options menu, as it runs horrrrible on this driver -------------------- Characters: DaisukeJigen - Fighter/Mage FujikoSan - Mage/Ranger LupinTheThird - Ranger/Mage Edited by DaisukeJigen (02/17/08 12:09 AM) |

For the Crackhead... from www.gamesforwindows.com RECOMMENDED REQUIREMENTS OS: Windows Vista™ Processor: 2 Ghz Pentium 4 class processor (or x64) RAM: 1 GB Hard Drive: 7 GB Video Card: NVIDIA 6100, ATI X700, or above Online Multi-player: Internet connection for Games for Windows – LIVE Drive: DVD-ROM drive Increased performance will be noticed on more powerful systems. For the OP... I agree with Ripper in regards to the .NET framework. Even if you don't recall any updates occurring, there were updates to 2.0 and 3.0 in the last 2 weeks. So, something may have happened there if they tried to install on your machine. Try uninstalling all the .NET framework items, restarting comp and then reinstalling them. |

Quote: Since you've posted a comment about the amount of RAM someone says they have on their computer a couple of times, I would like to give you a bit of info.... I have 756 mg of ram on my puter - and DR runs just fine. I don't even KNOW anyone including my brothers that are WoW'ers for life that have MORE than 3 gigs... I run 3 programs (explorer, security, and DR) and they all run/start (although DR is slow and choppy) but I DEFINITELY dont have anywhere NEAR 2 gigs let alone 3, and I only hava 1.7 celeron processor to go with it.... I just close explorer and everything is fine and smooth. Give up the technical advice if you really are just guessing please... (edit/addition: I just realized for some reason there were a bunch of responses like mine after this quote from WH, and I somehow missed reading them - I think i clicked into the thread and then out and lost my "new posts"..sorry all for being redundant, but at least I helped prove a point...) I thank you all again for your help, but my plight remains the same, i rolled back my drivers, and reinstalled direct X, but it still didn't help, i thought i would try to reinstall my .net files next, but i don't know where to find em, any pointers? |

You'll have to uninstall the Microsoft .net framework from Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel. Then, connect to Microsoft Update and install the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0. You'll probably need to reboot your computer, then reconnect to Microsoft Update to patch .Net. You may even need to do patch more than once. |

Sounds like the problem is you or your friend. Or he really doesn't meet the system requirements and thus you are full of it. |
