Monster Bait

Back when we were testing Chunk #2, Pullus noticed that Monster Bait was getting destroyed really quickly due to the mobs' increased attack ratings and effectiveness. Stephen responded with the following:

No apologies needed!

You raise a really good point. Now that monsters have more attack rating, the defense rating of Monster Bait needs some attention. We totally overlooked Monster Bait when working on this change.

We'll adjust defense rating of the bait so that it can take a similar-to-live beating before giving up the ghost (and your hide).

We don't mind making mistakes. We're only human here. If you knew how many bugs we found before this went up on PTS, you wouldn't think we were that sensitive.

Thanks for the report!

steve

My question is "did this ever happen"? Monster Bait seems to last ok in most dungeons, but it's almost worthless in Ratsputin's Gulag, even with Extra Crispy. Was Monster Bait ever adjusted after this was discovered or did it slip through the cracks?

Monster Bait is near worthless against Algor the Cold in the Snow Chieftan's Lair. He and his cronies destroy the turkey leg in about 2 seconds, from my experiences this weekend.

Well, that's to be expected. It's not really useful in boss fights or in HDoL, due to the number of heros, champs and bosses.

I'M Snow Chief's own personal monster bait - and when he comes to feed, I CHOP OFF HIS DANG ARMS!!! BWWWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

The rangers are there to kill all those damn annoying ice imps things.

SC one hit's for like 3000 dmg. His other champs come first swinging with their "power attack" to known you down and cause more dmg/stun. So that's why your turkey leg is like, "Ow...ooo, stop it! Nooo...." ::smoosh:: ROFL.

Mmmm, good coffee this morning... ::sip:: ( 9)(G )

My extra crispy monster bait does ok in HDOL. I can usually clear a lot of the fodder before it hits the ground. I do bait> TFF> penetration- that helps clear a few more while they're lying on the ground.

However, don't get me wrong, I would have no complaints if monster bait were beefed up!

I'm no monster bait expert but I haven't found a huge use for it. I always seem to end up with one of two scenarios. If the monster bait actually holds up enemies for any useful amount of time, I find that I can almost always kill the group before they can even get to me. On the other hand, groups that can get to me before I can mow them down normally smack my bait up and then proceed to treat me in the same manner in very fast succession.

Overall I'd have to guess that it's armor is pretty low as it really doesn't have alot of durability when you need it most, even with extra crispyness (crispiness?)
