What type of weapons do you all use and why?

Right now im using 2 1 handers club and pick. But im thinking of going back to a 2 handed hammer.

Fast low damage or Slow High Damage. Also on the two handers sword or hammer? Im so confused......

When you use 2 1h, always try to make them "matched" as in their dmg types (slashing+slashing, pierce/pierce, etc) That way their bonuses and the bonuses you get to match them from gear all add up together for greater end dps. Even if you get a rbw that you REALLY want to use, fight your urge back if you already have a build with "matched" stats and bonuses - a purp with good bonuses, or even a gold sometimes, will actually do better for you. Also, if you keep them in the same speed category, youll get a better hit % AND your weap speed affects your rebuff time on skills - so the faster the weaps you have equipped, the faster your skills rebuff.

For fighter, I prefer 2 1h wep. One fast one normal or avg speed (balanced). With the 2h if u miss, then it takes a while to swing again, which is time consuming.

yes..but... the idea is that when you DO hit you're causing the mama-jama dmg. So, thats where the discussion about fighters having to watch their agility/attack rating comes in.

Plus, your chances of hitting with 1 of your 1h weaps or 1 2h weap is essentially the same (i.e. if you had a 2h equip or a 1h and a shield, 2 1h weaps just gives you more CHANCE to hit): your AR for both of them is close to the same depending on the bonuses conferred by the weaps themselves and the other gear you have on. The difference is that with 2 1h, you have the chance to hit "essentially" twice as much (with 2 individual weaps), but the 1h weaps only do a fraction of the dmg of a 2h in general....SO it's really a toss-up and a matter of play preference/skills/"how cool you want to look and how often you want to one hit someone and look badass doing it". lol. Lots of guys do the "grind with 2 1h but beat down bosses with a 2h" setup.

The whole thing about having one fast and one normal/avg speed makes no sense though WH. Why would you purposefully make yourself swing SLOWER with one weapon...then you're doing the same thing you were complaining about with a 2h weap, taking more time overall to connect with a hit. If youre going to have 2 1h weaps, it makes more sense to have two that are as fast as possible or at least matched.

Thats totally correct. I also prefer 2H hammers/swords/axes, also because they're huge, but mostly because of the slow but terrible good damage. I choosed the Wake of the Devastator because of its a 2Handed, it does pretty some damage, and yet the speed is Fast. Along with that speed bonus the damage is enormous, and Wake of the Devastator is thereby also one of the best 2H weapons in the game, I consider.

Its actually all what you prefer, slow but incredible damage or very much speed, but less damage. And I found myself a solution: A 2H that is still Fast

Dont bother searching for that weapon, as it'll be hard to get one and you outlevel it anyway, but if you come across one, If I was you I would sure get it.

Wake of the Devestator is by far one of the best 2H weaps in the game. I was lucky enough to find one in my early 20's and it was AWESOME! Sadly I'm yet to find anohter acceptable 2H like WOD to replace it so I now use two 1H hammers. Maybe in the later levels when swivel pretty much never isn't in effect I'll pick 2h's back up.

PS WOD is also the ONLY rainbow I have ever found.

Also depends on what kind of 2h and 2 1h's u have (unless u like shield but fighters are already good meat shields due to the already high def rating u get from armour). If your total 2 1h's dmg adds up to more than the 2h and the 2h is very slow, then go with the 2 1h's. If the 2h is totally freakin awesome, then go with the 2h.

I personally use 2 handed weapons for the exact reason that Teclis stated earlier. I'm not a big fan of trying to make sure I have two matching weapons as well as armor that gives nice bonuses to that kind of damamge, one less item to look for is nice because I've sometimes leveled out of items looking for matches. For the most part I stick with 2 handed slashing weapons and haven't had any difficulty finding replacements when one gets old. I'm of the theory that faster weapons are better for people who prefer soul rend and slower weapons are for people who prefer butcher. I can't quite back my theory with much fact as to why but it works in my world of twisted logic.

Ehmm.. The original speed WITHOUT any stats, is always totally equal, 2 times a one handed of the same speed/damage and a 2H. You ALWAYS come to the same amount of dps, its about the stats.

Actually LR, I was under the impression that weapons within the same speed ranking have different "speeds" depending on the type group of the weapon (i.e. axe, sword, club...) We had this discussion here on forum a bit bad. What I mean is that, if you have an axe that is normal speed and a sword that is normal speed, the "normal" speed axe is slower than the "normal" speed sword. SO just having two "normal" speed weapons doesnt mean they're actually the same speed altogether, just the same speed within their own "type." Look for the post, and check it out for yourself in game. It gets really jacked up with xbows.

I've noticed that too Teclis, a normal speed crossbow is faster than a normal speed melee weapon from what I can tell. Not completely sure if range weapons are just naturally faster, but I'll do a test if someone reminds me I'll do a test of each major weapon group, might yeild some interesting results i'd assume.

I am sorry, I did not think clearly at that post I guess. Still mind that 2 Handed axes can still have different speeds. And dont compare other classes's their weapons, as that is totally invalid. But if I look at 2 Skulliosis, and then to 1 Wake of the Devastator, at level 100 you talk about maybe 40 damage more/less dps, thats it.

Oh well, that's fine, I was just saying that there are different weapon speeds by "type" of weapon in their "class" (i.e. swords, axes, etc...) And although 40 dps may not be THAT different, it is still different, and over 10 secs thats 400 dmg. Might be that 400 dmg that gets you pwned, lol. I understand you point though, not saying you were wrong or anything.
