Hello everyone,

Today in World 7 we had an attack by a self proclaimed troll.............so what you are saying we all get them from time to time......this was a bit different...this troll knew enough about how we do things there to make specific comments about it, but also this troll was using mis spellings of our own toon names. This troll in the way of all his kind, was abusive, insulting and rude to everyone......just as soon as one toon was ignored he changed to another long time player nick and started over again with another misspelled toon name. At least 4 people had this done to them.

My concern and the reason for this posting is to discuss a fix for this type of attack. This isn't the first on world 7, and I am sure they happen other places as well. This specific attack was done so as to circumvent the traditional reporting of bad behavior rules now in place. No one will get banned for this because all the new nicks are throw away.and unless the isp can be somehow captured, these attacks can continue as long as this idiot chooses too.

My solution is for the developers to give us a Hot Address to report major issues, one where a moderator can be alerted and slip quietly into the scene to observe.......I would think that the servers have someone there most of the time.....although I am not sure.

Most of the time all of our worlds run smoothly and nicely.it is a shame when an idiot chooses to ruin all of our afternoons by attacking those that play DR.

As I mentioned on /w chat today, instead of capturing IP addresses and IP banning especially egregious offenders, there could be a visible [censored] tag for all characters/accounts associated to that IP address. Every character would be visibly flagged (maybe a "kick me" sign on their back) and would be forever banned from chat. It would fit well with the overall humor of the game IMO.

Ive suggested this before - When you iggy someone it should iggy all their "alts" on the account. Im pretty sure that when I iggy someone as one character, Im still not going to like them as another one...

What we really need is player mods with the ability to ban unruly people from the world in question.

hehe, I like the "KICK ME" sign idea. I just wanted to say I witnessed the offender in action and also found it not only annoying but deliberate and offensive as well. This troll knew it would be ignored, did not care, and went out of it's way to try to keep other players from enjoying the game that day. Luckily, it's hard to derail fun in W7 and like most trolls do, it eventually slunk away.

The only thing better tan the 'kick me' sign would be to acctually kick them, not off the server but around the town. Hell maybe we could use them for a game of soccer. Oh yeah and the bigger your toon (ie +size) the further you could kick them.

Well, Runescape has a system where you send a short video of what happened (60 seconds) when you report someone.

Yes, Necro is right. I really liked that system, and when I played (owh yes I did played RS), and reported someone, upto 2 times I saw them dieing right in front of me, because of the ban. It works really good for RS.

Sadly, there are a few problems with this system, 1. It can be heavily abused. 2. RS graphics are crap, so no vid of 60 secons, but maybe an option to select what channel it occured and then link a chat log with the report?

I like the in-game mod idea too, but Stephen mentioned long ago that there are some problems with the legal department about that or something. I'd sign up if I got the chance, but I think there wont come any ever.
