So yesterday I was bored, logged on and wanted to find a rasp group but couldn't, so I decided to join a lower lvl rotty group and help a bit till I found another group near my lvl. I explained to the group that I was bored and just helping out a bit, but of course there's ALWAYS one or two lower lvls who put you on thier f-list and won't stop bothering whenever you log on. It's pissing me off, I don't want to put them on ignore but when I explain to them that I was just bored and helpng they don't get it and still won't leave me alone. I'm lvl 82 now that means I have 18 lvls of 20k+ exp to go till I'm 100, and that's the ultimate goal in game to get that. So if I spend every game moment helping these lower lvls I won't get to enjoy myself with my character? Please understand us higher lvls will help when we feel like it, please don't bother us all the time. But the same goes for a higher lvl to join a group and just keep leaving and coming back without saying anything (this happened to me too). Our leader kept making excuses for the higher lvl but the truth of it is it was bad gamemanship. If anyone comes away with anything fom this rant I hope it's that they treat everyone fairly and respectfully in game. If your a lower lvl and someone higher agrees to help you, after it's done and they leave let them play, if they want to help again I'm sure they'll say something and the same goes for a higher lvl who joins a group to help, if you agree to help stay and help and afterwards leave don't leave in the middle of a boss fight that your depended on to help with.

ahhh grasshoppah... You must learn to embrace the calm of the ignore button. Feel its soothing warmth. The peaceful energy that flows from it. Yes... is nice.

I understand how you feel completely. I wish I could say it would go away, but it really doesn't. I will feel the urge to help, without them asking me, only to later have a few of those low levels ask for help constantly. Most ask as soon as I sign on, which I find truly annoying. It takes a lot for me to put someone on ignore usually, so basically I have had to learn to just not answer back. If you're like me, that's hard, because I hate being rude. But I rationalize this with the fact that I dislike people taking any help for granted and assuming my sole purpose for signing on to the game is to only help them.

There is even one example I can think of an individual who now has a level 100 character, but so annoyed people on their way up the leveling ladder by asking for things (help and items) sooooo much, that this person is only remembered for that. Plus now, this person has made a new lower level and constantly asks for help in leveling that character at well. Unfortunately some people never truly learn and in my opinion they miss out on really enjoying the game.

So again, really the only answer is simply to learn to ignore, whether with the butter or just not answering them back.

For the persistent ones I simply ask why they find this game so hard that they need my help? Subtle insults about low intelligence, lack of hand/eye coordination and inferences about laziness usually follow if they persist.

I once asked a persistent money beggar in another MMO to sing 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' in world chat if they wanted my help. These people have no shame, he did it. I just typed lol and then ignored him anyway.

One of my favorite things to do in that game that shall not be named was to open a trade window with someone who is bumming money outside the AH and put a few hundred gold in the window... then never hit "trade".

~sigh~ Helping people is my curse....I could have been Level 100 long ago.....Hehe, half of the lvl 100's i knew when they were lower level than me.
