Perhaps it is a matter of opinion then. In my opinion, requests like these are geared only for "give me more so I can do better" players. Players that, rather than focus on what they have, would rather ask for handouts or an easy way through. If one wants more strategies in game, ask for more skills or varieties thereof.

I am not typically rude in posting, unless the one I am responding to has irritated me. Beyond that, I am a straightforward person, so some people automatically consider me rude. That is their perception, and not my problem.

It is bad enough that the original poster joined the legions of forum users around the world that are too lazy to use the search function. Then this other fellow comes along praising the idea like it was the new wheel.

Hmm, asking for auto-health and asking for more slots... Again, that is a matter of opinion. I can only assume from your context that you consider automatic health to be a "lazy" request? I am sure one could argue that it too would add to the strategy of the game.

This whole forum is a matter of a opinion. I don't understand how a request for two more skills automatically adds up to asking for hand outs. As I said in my post I did not agree with the idea as a membership or "premium incentive" but as something for everyone to utilize. Two more slots does not automatically make anything more easy to do. There are a lot of skills to use and only a limited amount of slots to use them with. We have skills on the skill bar to use them, just as we have health and mana pots to use to restore our health/mana. While I'm sure they plan on adding more skills and varieties thereof to the game, the ability to use 2 more of those additional skills would equally be helpful. Either way, it does not matter to how I play the game. As I stated in my post I have played just fine so far, obviously, and would continue to do so (as I'm sure many, many players would) regardless of an additional 2 skill slots. However, I think it would be fun to be able to use more skills on mobs and bosses while I'm playing. The idea that it would somehow make the game easier never crossed my mind.

While I'm sure one could try to make an argument that automatic use of health pots so you don't have to push the space bar could help one's strategy, but it wouldn't make it any less lazy. I/you/everyone could make an argument against a lot things that have been implemented into the game (or will be implemented) as not being needed or making the game too easy. It doesn't invalidate my opinion or yours simply because someone can argue against it.

While this person may have created another thread with a topic that has been discussed before doesn't mean one should generalize them as being lazy. Perhaps they simply didn't understand the search option or how it worked. I'm sure that there would have been a nice way of simply saying "in the future perhaps you should use the search option to see if there are already discussions about your idea/suggestion/etc".

As for the person praising it, if I were take your opinion on it they wouldn't be allowed to praise it at all. The person was not rude or anything, they just expressed their like for the idea, just as others have expressed their dislike for it. As I recall this was a forum for all the players to discuss the topics of the game, and at least we are all participating (and getting involved in the development of a game we all love to play obviously) and can hopefully carry on with a healthy debate.

One last note, I appreciate a straightforward person, although that doesn't automatically make what one says rude or not. You were irritated with an idea someone suggested, however this is the appropriate place for that person to place those suggestions and they did not say it in any rude way. So I'm really not understanding your irritation. You could have simply chalked it off and moved on without replying. I have many unread posts because as I think about it more it simply isn't that important and I move on.

You are correct, Lady, and my apologies to you as well as everyone else.

I live, think, and act on a certain set of principles. When those principles are crossed or when one goes against them, I have a tendency to react aggressively. I allowed that tendency to cross over to a chat forum for a game. In retrospect, I feel a bit ashamed for such actions, as immaturity and pettiness are far from who I am.

I will practice better "community spirit" in future matters.

Dark eve, Lady.

I have to say 2 new skill slots would be convenient. Although making it member, i dont think it would make many people turn to being a member. The recent changes to non-member bank space etc. has made me think about getting rid of my membership. The whole reason why i became member was for the bank space. There is no REAL NEED to become member now that there are non-member rainbows floating around. But a good idea nonetheless with certain tweakage.

I was a non member for a few days and trust me the bank is small
you get 1 page members get 3
My son and wife both have non member accts and its still 1 page without membership

What I feel the bank needs is a page like the TRADE buffer
so I can dump mage stuff in it from warrior and load mage and retrieve it

Can't just make it so all the inventories are shared
or people will exploit it.

Gold is pretty much worthless except for paying for training
None of the Vendors ever has anything of real value
or more importantly of any value to you at that time
They are basically garbage disposals.

My biggest peeve is the Fighter KC vendor
it took over 150 KCs to get a shadow scale helm
and then 80+ more to get one I would wear
There are 4 different types of Fighter armor classes
the KC vendor should dispense the same type as you are wearing.

Its funny people await the new publish hoping for a new dungeon possibly more levels to character as well.
If they make a higher level dungeon and add character
levels it will just be another version of what they have.
If they just add a new dungeon it will be someplace new to explore and a faster route for new players to the boredom of max level players who stand around for hours by the Obelisk so noobs can drool.

For you information pal I put alot of thought into my IDEA
and I even created the graphic to illustrate it
you apparently are so high on your virtual self you lost touch with reality

Im a 51 year old grandfather and game developer
my idea was posted not to gain some sortof attention
but make the game easier for new players by placing
the PASSIVE skills in slots that dont have HOTKEY assignments
Instead of sloppy lazy method they use now; the current design allows for adding more than 2 passive skills to a character. You can actually make a lvl 10-12 char with 4k HP's with passive skills and items
The idea was balance the game out

And lastly to the claims that FREE player should be equal to paying CUSTOMERS who do you think pays for the new publishes and bandwidth ?? the AD's ??

I think your idea for the implementation of extra passive slots is a good one.

The problem Murtog, is that there are a number of people here who (very vocally and persistently) DO NOT WANT the game to be easier ... or different ... or much of anything else than what it is now ... or even what it USED to be like. Hell, many are still whining about the changes from the last big update!

Nolan... I believe the idea of being able to change a character name has been brought up before. If I remember correctly, I believe one of the devs said that it would never happen. I'm sure there are those on here who can or will explain it better than I. As for my opinion on it, I would prefer that it never happen. I would not appreciate having to ignore the same annoying soul because they keep changing names within the game to harass and annoy.

Murtog, while I'll agree with the additional 2 slots as being a good idea, I don't think it has anything to do with balance or such. When you first start the game they already give you a boost to help with the leveling.

However, regardless of any of this, you too should remember that Necro apologized for how he put things on his posts. I can understand your anger and sense of defending oneself, but I'm sure you too could have put it better as well. Just as you were stating your opinion, so was he.

As for the free players being equal, I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. I don't recall any mention that free players and members should have equal status. I know that I said that the 2 slots should be for everyone, but that is because I know that making 2 additional slots available to members only isn't going to make any current free players rethink becoming a member. If the things available now don't, just one more thing isn't going to bring them over. I do think they, free players, pay for quite a bit of this game development, etc. As the commercials pay for many things, just because they are there and have to be watched. (Though personally this would have sent me over to member, if I hadn't already been one. Whenever I get on my free account I realize how nice it has been without the commercials). Perhaps I read it wrong and you were saying free players help pay for things as well. I thought you were saying that they don't.

From The Build .75 Patch Notes May 21st, 2007

Quote:

"Our new classless RPG system has been implemented with this build. This means that you aren’t stuck as a mage, fighter or ranger. Indeed, you can now mix and match your skills more easily to build the class that you want. Specifically:

We have added three new skill slots to the skill bar. Feel free to keep your new passive skills on the bar, or experiment with more active skills!"

While your suggestion is one that has been discussed many times in a sense it was already implemented 8 months ago. I don't think that right now this is a system that needs to change. However if there are additions made to the quantity of selectable skills in the future, as has been suggested by the devs to be one of their intentions, then yes this should be looked at as something that would need adjustment.

As to differentiating between member and non-member, the non's are now at the very least pulling their weight (and then some) with regards to revenue flow. The ads are pay by impression so what we really should want is to get more "ad supported" players (there's no free play anymore) and to get their eyeballs on the ads as often as possible. They have the potential to generate more revenue than the very reasonable membership fee.

In a way Dungeon Runners failed in one of its original premises as a totally free to play game supported by a paid membership component. That obviously did not bring in enough revenue to continue to build the game in the way the devs wanted. So they brought in a second revenue stream to help pay. I wouldn't be surprised if they batted around the idea of simply making member and non's the same except for the ads. Although, I do think they kinda hit a sweet spot of sorts for differentiation, Yay!, nobody feels like a second class citizen!
