How to farm loot 101
#44361 - 01/15/08 10:39 AM |
So I have been playing this game a little while, and I think I finally know how all these 'twinks' get their uber loot. First you need to have two accounts. We will call them the 'driver' and the 'mule'. You may have noticed that when you join a group and get disconnected, you still remain part of that group. You still get loot drops, and can log back in at any time and can still pick up that loot. Also you may have noticed that the loot which is dropped is about 2 levels below the leader of the group, and up to 5 levels higher than the leader of the group. By using these two facts, you can fill up a group with 4 mules and one leader, and farm a boss for a target level for 5 times the amount. I am not sure about the mechanics of rainbo drops, but it seems that you have to be at least lvl 10 in order to get purple items. So make sure every member of your group is at least lvl 10. Next have one of your driver characters invite a mule character to a group. Log out of the mule character and log onto another mule character. Invite this new guy. Log out and do the same for the third guy. You now have a group of 4 people, one driver and 3 mules. Now log out of your driver account, and log onto another driver character. Have the mule that is the group leader invite this new driver. So now you have a group of 5, 3 mules, and 2 drivers. The trick here is now to make the character who is the 'target' level the leader of the group. So if your trying to get gear for lvl 12, then you need to make a lvl 10-12ish the leader of the group. So now all gear that drops will be in the lvl 12ish range. Finally you take one of your high level characters in the group, it doesn't matter which account, and you go kill a boss on insane! Log in and out of each account, pick up all the good purples and rainbows and then drop them in a corner or something. Keep doing this for each character, ending on the 'target' character that you are doing this for. You now know how all of these 'twinks' who think they are good at pvp get their good gear. You may have to re-assign the group leadership to the lower level character if you log out and have to log back in. |

You essentially got it right except that rainbows only drop for level 15 or higher. And loot percentage goes up if the lowest member of the team is made leader. So, boiled down to it: * Leader on primary account (level 30+ for Sissirat, level 40+ for SC) * Level 15 mule on 2nd account * Mule on primary account (logged off in "disconnected" mode but part of the team) * Mule on secondary account (logged off in "disconnected" mode but part of the team) * Some folks max out the group to five, others think four is fine As for the ethics of twinking, I have no problems with it whatsoever. It happens in all MMOs. The biggest downside of this however is that you won't see someone come in with a general purpose PvE/PvP character. Eventually, what you'll see are level 10 rangers or fully geared up 100s. The level 10 twink is what people will build to feel they have a chance. -------------------- Freesia - 7 days, 16 hours, 42 minutes to 100 |

Thats not totally true, not a single level (except that one bug thats gettin fixed..) has advantage in PvP, so any level can be a "twink". I for myself rather call it a Pure, as it costs loads effort. Almost all players are far way too lazy to make a real level 10 char, I am very sure. I just run a level 15 char and myself, with the lvl 15 as leader through sissirat, kill rattle tooth and sissirat, check for rbs and reset through windowed mode of the other screen. That way I can get well over 5-10 rainbows an hour. |

I prefer to run my "Main" and my lowbie lvl 18. I have a friend inite my "Main" and the lvl 18, so no window closing, or running to another computer to pick up loot, although your only farming for one char instead of 4 or 5. -------------------- Level 78 Fighter |

I'm having some technical difficulties getting this set up. I can get my main and first mule grouped but as soon as it happens I lose my sound and get incredible lag. This occurs in both windows. When I leave group my sound and speed return immediately. I built this system 3 yrs ago and can't say what components I used right off hand and I'm too lazy to pull it up right now but I can run both instances at the same time nicely as long as I don't "group" with myself. What changes when I group to cause something like that? |
