So I was sitting thinking of how the main two ranger builds are crit ranger and poison ranger. then i got an idea, what if instead of relying on criticals for damage you went with a heavy duty shotgun or whatever. then you raise raw ranged damage/slashing damage/other damage

if it works you would end up with a set of armor that adds a ton of raw damage

who knows, I'm gonna try this eventually

I'm sure there are Rangers who specialize in this... just damage, not criticals.

If your looking for a good shotgun like that try a "The Juge" it's a rainbow.

Yep I like it too, we use The Judge because of its amount of damage, but yet the speed is grandma.
Calculating back you do more damage with a 2H if you dont miss, so it definitely works.
You can ask me in-game, tho I am a fighter now because The Judge is 1555 base dmg max, and one with the very same speed can get upto 2600 max base dmg.

Shotguns are like cannons: they do a lot of damage but arnt as fast as a lower damage bow, the main thing to remember is, if your using something with high damage / low Rate of Fire, make sure you dont miss: one miss with a slow weapon is like 10 with a fast weapon.

...and like any cannon it's like a sledgehammer.

You COULD use a sledgehammer to kill mosquitoes.. but it's overkill.
Use something faster with less damage if you find you're mobbed by fodder.

Save the sledgehammer for when you're taking out a bison.
