Mage fire and ice skills
#41893 - 12/19/07 07:47 PM

This suggestion is not only my own but comes from lots of friends i play with and people in the mage forum (see posts there about fire/ice spells that I am kindly putting here in suggestions to hope for a result!).

I would love to see a couple (just a couple) new mage spells for fire and ice focus and maybe some items to boot (I'll settle for the spells though, lol). A simple fire or ice spell like an enchant weap would be cool, and an ice AOE spell for SURE. Im not entirely sure of the most "needed" type of such spells, but i think the ice AOE is the most needed.

Post away people and lets get us some fire/ice goodies!

For ice,

* A self buff +def ice armor
* A cone AoE -movement and -attack speed debuff
* A targetable AoE knockdown spell (think summonable ice slick)

For fire,

* A -attack rating spell for opponents (think smoke in eyes)
* Fiery aura, damage over time aura armor that damages any opponent in melee range
* Wall of Fire as in Diablo

Currently leveling up:
Freesia - mage
Feisti - fighter
Fletching - ranger

I think we need to get away from the passives a little bit, I mean we've gotten what 6 passives and only 1 active skills? Anyways I think we need to take a lesson from diablo 2 and make some fighter skills which take over their main attack, I have to agree with the people who says fighter is the most boring class. Though more mage skills is good to I think fighters need the most love.

i wasnt suggesting WHICH classes needed more skills, the post of the suggestion is that people would like a few fire and ice skills for MAGES, not a general discussion of skill needs...thats a different post that can be made all together.
On that note though it has been posted that fighters need some new skills, such as the shield skills suggestion that has been posted, and new/different offensive skills.

Good ideas, personally I like Meteor and Blaze from Diablo 2. Blaze would work nicely.

The first poster mentioned Ice and Fire "items". Let me say, since playing a Shadow Mage, the glut of mage items I get are either split or are Ice or Fire.

Personally I would like to see shields with a more "mage" look. White glowing Ice shield, melted slag Fire shieds, and radiant orb Shadow shields. Technicolor/iridescent shields for tri-split prefix/suffix.

I gotta say that the items part of your request is not needed. If you look at the RB's available, pretty much all of the mage ones are for fire or ice. Shadow gets the shaft when it comes to mage items, but that's fine as shadow mages pretty much roll through the mobs anyways. Fire and ice mages need the items that already are in play to help them out, but not more.

Meh, Fire really is the powerhouse in the whole magic dept. I think having some kind of passive that upped ONE type of damage as long as it was in your tray might help. Have it so it decreased everything by like 50% and increased said damage by 30%. And some non-damage variety attacks might be fun. Slow is great but if thats all you ever do <=O maybe an AOE with crap damage that just froze everything for like 10 seconds.

Sure would be nice to be able to actually support my teammates =P.

And whats with Ice Bolt not actually doing ANYTHING after a certain range? I can attack people past like 30 feet, but the ice ball hits them, explodes, and nothing happens, its like i never attacked.

yeah i guess its true about fire and ice + items for the most part, but they seem to be less beneficial than the +shadow items.
So, i guess what im really gonna hope for from santa is an ice aoe, and i still think that fire/ice/shadow enchant or "summon" weapon would be cool.
