Soloing Abbadon and Queen of Shadows
#41798 - 12/18/07 07:29 PM

Hi, are there any tips for mages to solo these 2 bosses? I can't seem to be able solo them.

At the moment Abbadon is really very difficult. The self buffs/resist now don't last long enough and if you swap endurance for intellect to get some hit points you probably won't have enough firepower to take him down with any efficiency at all. Wait and see how they adjust Abby in the January patch, maybe your prospects will be a little better.

Queenie is minutely easier, I know I can solo her at level 100, but it's not easy and it takes a lot of time for the amount of loot that she drops. Queen of Shadows has changed so many times I can't even count, it seems everytime anybody gets her down to a science, she gets adjusted.

Here's some tips:

Forget the minions in the last part, go straight for the Queen, mop them up at the end.

Have as many hit points as possible, respec or switch out gear but you need 11-13K hit points, 7 or 8K with Blue Screen means you chug many many mana pots. Queenie has a one shot kill melee attack, Blue Screen won't really help.

Take as much shadow and divine resist as you can.

Take Thickheadedness so you are not interupted by her knock back. Unfortunately the durations on buffs have changed, so make sure you recast.

She now casts a fear debuff, so Banner might be helpfull.

Retribution works really well. Unfortunately the durations on buffs have changed, so make sure you recast.

ICE SHARDS and as much +ice damage as you can bring. She is unsurprisingly immune to shadow damage.

Unnerving Shout to slow her down. Unfortunately the durations on buffs have changed, so make sure you recast.

You may only be able to take one of your AoE's, but either poison or fire should be cast as often as possible.

I'd say if you can do it in 3 minutes or less with under 15 potions then you're doing pretty good.

Of course we used to be able to drop her in less than 30 seconds.

If you are above level 75, Rasputin is a literal goldmine. The encounter takes a bit longer, maybe 5-6 minutes, particularly if you pick up your loot. But if you are feeling like a cash poor Dungeon Runner, Raspy will help you build up your bank.
