DR crashing
#41647 - 12/17/07 01:42 PM |
I have spoken with a few other players in game that have had this same issue since Chunk 2. Everything seems fine until DR has a strange crash. What do I mean strange? I mean DR keeps running but windows shows it has crashed and needs to close it. This isn't the really strange part. Once this happens my desktop that I keep at 1280x1024 reverts to the screen size I keep DR at 800x600 AND I can't tab out to desktop. As a matter of fact I can't get to my desk top at all and end up hitting the reset button on my Motherboard controller (Usually the one below the power button on the face of your computer) just to be able to get out of game. Now THAT is strange. I have since turned off the "Ask to send report to Microsoft" feature and it has not cropped up again, yet... I am running Windows XP SP-2 with no other addons or updates from Microsoft. Just the service pack. Hope this helps to track down this little bugger. [Edit] FINELY! I have been able to exit out of DR while the error is showing on the desktop. This is what the error box states. ATI VPU Recovery VPU Recover has reset your graphics driver as it is no longer accepting commands. Please tell ATI Technologies about this problem. Then buttons to send not send. I have only been back on my main computer now for about 2 weeks but in that time have not had this error until chunk 2. Now that I can see it is a graphics problem here are the card specs encase it helps. ATI Radeon X1300 Pro Sapphire for PCIE, Driver version 8.391.0.0 (Latest update) 6/26/2007. [end edit] -------------------- And that is just my 2 cents and a haypenny. Edited by Asheda (12/17/07 03:15 PM) |

If that is really the latest driver from ATI, try rolling back your video driver to the previous version. -------------------- A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing. - Emo Philips |

Ok, finely found an updated driver for my Video Card... And I am adding a new term RIP. Running IN Place. and adjusting BSOD for DR to Black Screen of Demise. Still getting BSOD issues. 3-12 seconds of black screen then DR comes back up, (but without the corresponding window asking to tell ATI about it) at least once a day, My poor desk top is so confused... But I am not getting many RIP issues unless in a group environment. Full system specs Windows XP Home SP 2 build 2600 AMD Athlon 64 3500 @ 2.35 GHz 1.25 gig ram On a Gigabyte NForce Motherboard GA-K8N-SLI Updated Video driver version 6.14 Date 11-1-2007, the old driver was from windows update. Side note, Is the test server down for the holidays or is it just me? -------------------- And that is just my 2 cents and a haypenny. |

Ok, I have to say sory... It was the video card that is dead, crashed like VW into a solid brick wall. And while I would love to type in 4 pages worth of the troubles I went thru since the last post here I don't want this to become a blog. Hopeing to get back on after the holidays for those that miss me :-) So untill then, Have Fun and play hard. -------------------- And that is just my 2 cents and a haypenny. |

Actually commenting about my own problems here, kind of parallel yours. "unhandled exception" is the message I get and game freezes - sometimes message bleeds through screen, sometimes not. Without the message showing, have to hard-crash comp and reboot. I run Vista (my bad) and the alt + ent fix doesn't make a difference. Erratic behavior also, sometimes 6 crashes a night, sometimes none. |

Unhandled exception and runtime error here also...also with Vista. I just became a member, but I'm having second thoughts...this crashing is getting pretty irritating. |

Please remember that we have official tech support available, at no additional charge It doesn't matter whether you pay us or not via membership - we're still here to help.Just go to http://support.plaync.com and click on the "Ask A Question" link at the bottom. Now, there is one thing I want to mention, and I'm sorry if this wasn't mentioned earlier: as of right now Dungeon Runners requires the latest version of DirectX (November release). Mysterious crashes can occur if you are not using the latest version. For specific help on that, please be sure to contact our tech support staff ![]() -------------------- "Always keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them" Crickette Dungeon Runners Community Manager |

also u should run DR on the same resolution as ur desktop the reason you cant tab out to the desktop is that the screen must autoscale its self to the correct resolution which if u dont have the fastest of computers is enough to kill it off. Run it on the same res to avoid this as it doesnt need to autoscale its self to anything different and therefore avoiding the problem quiet simple ![]() -------------------- RangedRange - 730 pvp wins - level 10 <-- click for build... I have spoken to tech. support. To be honest, the main reason I posted here is to vent frustration (sorry, :P). Plus, the default response I get from tech. support is, to paraphrase, "We'll try to help, but Vista isn't supported so don't hold your breath." |

I support Virus Vista... Just long enough to drop it off a cliff that is. I have never been impressed with the "Windows" operating systems but still use them only due to being forced to by computer game companies that don't support my Flavor of desktop environment. So currently I am stuck with Virus XP for my gaming needs. But in all seriousness, I do have a friend with that OS and if I could duplicate the problem you are having on his box I might find a solution to yours. Again, just like TS said.. Don't hold yer breath. -------------------- And that is just my 2 cents and a haypenny. |
