Like a recurring nightmare... we're having some login issues.

First off, let me apologize for taking so long to respond. My family life had my attention this evening and I couldn't turn it loose.

Let me tell you what the heck is going on here:

Our database administrators misconfigured something during deployment of Chunk 2. This caused some failures for large characters that were being saved. Those failures had some nasty side effects. We've resolved the database misconfiguration that caused this problem to begin with.

However, this misconfiguration caused some unrecoverable data loss on a handful of characters. Our database administrators began restoring those characters from our pre-patch backups at about 6:30pm today.

Whatever method they used to restore these characters caused World 1 to crash and deadlock. This deadlock caused some 160 characters to be locked out of the game. We have since restarted World 1 to help clear this problem up.

That being said, there are still some characters with missing data. And there are also some accounts that cannot login. At this late hour, I don't have access to all the people that I need to fully resolve this issue. So, we'll have to wait to move on this until the morning.

Alrighty. These issues should be cleared up shortly. We're taking the entire service down for database maintenance in about 20 minutes from "now". Things should be back to normal before you know it.
