Does it make a difference which base I start with as far as making a hybrid of a fighter and a mage? My idea is that I want to be close up melee but with some magic to boost my dps and my survivability solo. I understand that gear can supplement some things but I'm not sure which would be more important here, health from starting as a fighter or mana from starting as a mage. The idea is to die as little as possible either way.

As a caveat I have a low frustration threshold. I hate winding up in situations where I die constantly and don't feel like I'm progressing. Also I avoid pvp like the plague. It's just not my thing. Hence the reason I don't play most MMO's.

No wories about starting out bud. By the time your through dew valley and into Townston proper you'll be level 10, and the correct gear comes much later too. So get a feel for the game and its dynamics then with all haste check this guide, I've done the balancing act and have it focused into my hybrid guide thats in my signature..... usually your focusing around what weapon(s) you want to use. Go from there.

you can be any 'class' at any time you want

you just need the right skills and gear

Thank you very much for the info. It was probably a rather dumb question but it wasn't completely clear from the faqs and info I read just how much of an effect the character type had.

Dont sweat the base skill i chose mage but anything will do fine as long as you get a full set of warrior armour and a full set of mage armour and im talking like full crystal and phantom.

the beauty of the respec button means if uve had enuf of mage then dont do it. respec and become a ranger or w/e and the ability to visit all skill trainers means ur not limited to what ever u start out as which is good

this is mostly a recap of what was said above but here goes anyway...

All you need to respec to another build is:

• Gold for the respec charge (if goes up every time you level).
  
• Gear for the new build.
  
• Gold to buy the spells for the new build
  

You might find it helpful to ask another player who plays the build your respecing to on how to spend your attribute points.

and by the time you need to respec or gain a level so the price increases your always left with enough cash as it never ne thing stupid so u can respec as many times as u want lol

Lol, to his credit darth he posted that on the 5th. I wrote him a response I think that day on another thread about the same thing and the next day his post responses were better a bit. He said he's doing more "previewing" and I think he's coming around...lol.

I hear ya though, most times I read them SLOWLY and TWICE to make sure I don't get or not get something he was trying to say.
