How to submit a report
#39992 - 12/03/07 01:07 AM

Occasionally, you may feel the need to report a player for his/her in-game behavior. At this time, unfortunately, there is no way to contact a GM or other customer support staff from within the game. Instead, you must open a ticket with support through their website. In order to do so successfully, please do the following:

1) If you don't already have one, open a support account here. You must have a support account in order to use PlayNC Support. This account is separate from your master and game accounts.

2) Take one or more screenshots of chat, character names, whatever you found offensive or felt was in violation of the EULA or Rules of Conduct. For example, if you're reporting a player with an offensive name, then open up the social window and highlight that players name, then take a picture of it. If you're reporting a player who's making offensive statements, then capture those statements in a screenshot. Please note, there is NO screenshot functionality built into Dungeon Runners. Print Screen is basic windows functionality that copies a picture to your Windows clipboard. You'll need to open a graphic application (the easiest way to do so is to hit Start|Run, type MSPaint then click OK). Paste in the picture and save it to .jpg format. If you want to take multiple pictures, you'll need to take them and save them one at a time.

3) Report a player by "Asking a Question" on the support site as follows:

a) Create a simple, concise subject line a la "Player making racist comments"

b) In the Question section - list the Date, Time, Timezone, World, offending character name and their offense. Keep it as simple as possible. Here's an example: 11/20/2007 @ 05:10PM World 5 (PVP World) - character named "<offensivename>". Only list as much detail as you need to.

c) List the product as Dungeon Runners

d) List the category as Rules and Policies

e) List the Department as Violation Report

f) Identify both your PlayNC Master Account and the game account you were using at the time of the offense

g) Attach screen prints - browse for them one at a time, hitting the Add Attachment button for each one, respectively.

h) When you're all done, hit the Continue button. This will take you to a confirmation screen.

i) On the confirmation screen, hit Submit

All told, the process takes about five minutes once you're used to it. That's not a lot to ask to help us keep the community nice for us all.

There is also another way to take screen shots and have them auto-uploaded to the web.

To do this you need to make a imageshack acct and get quickshot.

The link for imageshack is: http://imageshack.us/

Once you have the imageshack acct just download quickshot turn it on and then it is Alt+i and you have a screen shot that is uploaded to the web and a link in your clip board.

Here is the link for quickshot: http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=quickshot

This is an example of the screen shot using quickshot:

Thank you mizz, but this suggestion is completely extraneous to the guide, since storing the image on the web has nothing to do with filing a report. Since basic Windows Print Screen functionality allow one to capture a screenshot that can be saved and uploaded into the report, there's no reason to use imageshack's tool for it's clipboard feature.

The purpose of this guide is to instruct players how to submit a report using the basic tools they have. If any third-party software is used, I would generally recommend that it be either Fraps or gamecam, both of which allow one to take a screenshot, but instead of simply saving it on the clipboard, they save the screen captures automatically to a designated folder. This allows a user to take multiple screenshots in a row without having to alt+tab out to save each individual shot.

The reason I find it easier to use quickshot than the print screen, due to the fact that quickshot gives you a link that can be posted in any report. All I have to do is hit Alt+i and the screen shot is taken and all I then have to do is post the link in a report or go to my image shack acct and select the screen shots I want to add if I had to take multi-screenies.

I personally have found that doing that saved me more time when having to do reports of players on a different game.

I also suggested it due to the fact that not everyone that plays online games have a in depth understanding of computers, other than to turn it on and click on basic links and short cuts they have.

I know that I for one got very lost when I first tired to take screen shots and actually had to paste a few screen shots in a word document cause I had no idea what to do, until a friend told me about quickshot.

Ok - I misunderstood. You're saying you post a direct url link to the picture within the Question text section instead of uploading a file from the hard drive? In general, that seems effective and I don't have a problem with it other than I generally recommend not running any more applications in the background while gaming than absolutely necessary.

Thank you for clarifying.

PlayNC Support Site

Please note, this is the same site you would use for technical support, too.
