Dungeon Runners First Player versus Player Tournament

Registration
To register you need to reply to this forum post with the name of the toon you want to enter. If you want to register privately send a forum private message to Tristanne. You cannot register in game ... it is not possible.

Registration deadline: Signups will be finalized Friday, November 30th @ 10 pm CST (Austin, Texas time). There will be NO REGISTRATIONS after this time and no exceptions to the rule.

Rules

- All players are welcome to compete regardless of class or level.
- A player may only use one toon to compete with. Known violators will be removed from the tournament.
- This is a free-for-all where all items and skills are allowed!
- Tournament officials may modify the rules at any time prior to the tournament.

Tournament Format (TBD based upon the number of entrants)
- Round Robin up to 12 people with the finals being the best 2 out of 3
- Single Elimination for more than 12 people with the semi finals and finals being the best 2 out of 3
- The tournament bracket will be generated by Alvera and posted publicly NLT December 1st @ 12 am CST (Austin, Texas time) on the Dungeon Runners forums.
- If you are more than 3 minutes late your match will be forfeited without appeal
- A "disconnect" for any reason will be considered a forfeit
- Leaving the battleground early will be considered a forfeit


A basic idea on how the tournament will take place

1. The brackets will be generated to include approximate times for the competition.
2. When your match is called you will be visibly inspected by a tournament official to document your current PvP Wins total.
3. Once inspected you will have will have 30 seconds to enter the PvP queue.
4. Once the pairing is made you will send a message to the tournament official verifying the match has been correctly made.
5. If there is a problem you must notify the official PRIOR to the match starting or the match results will be final.
6. Upon existing the match your PvP wins total will be verified and an official winner announced.
7. The tournament bracket will then be updated with the winner. Rinse, repeat

Ideally, we will have 3-5 matches happening simultaneously, but this will definitely be a learning experience and changes will be made on the fly, as needed.

There will be a pool of prizes to select from to be limited only by the generosity of our own players. A total of 6 prizes will be awarded and player selected in the following sequence.

* A number of other prizes have already been donated with additional prizes being added daily(see below).

Sportsmanship
- Players will conduct themselves in a mature manner and display good sportsmanship at all times. Reports of player misconduct will be investigated and the offending player may be removed from the tournament. Taunting, degrading and insulting comments are grounds for removal from the tournament without appeal.

- Complaints should be directed to the tournament officials (to be publicly identified prior to the tournament)

- Encourage other players to enter the tournament

- Be a tournament official and help conduct the actual tournament. Unfortunately, tournament officials will not be eligible to compete during the tournament to prevent conflicts of interest. Tournament official duties will include checking PvP victory counts before each match, keeping the tournament on schedule, awarding prizes and resolving any tournament conflicts that arise.

- Make a prize donation. If you want to donate an item or even your time please contact Alvera directly in game or Tristanne via the forums private messaging system. All prize donations will be fully and publicly documented prior to the tournament start. If you donate a prize and it is not selected it will either be returned to you or kept in the vault for future tournaments. Please use discretion with your donations -- your 35 Bilespitters really have no value for this tournament.



This is a player run and player directed tournament and not sanctioned by NCSoft, Dungeon Runners or anyone officially connected to the game.

* Levels - Since level 1 - 10 players are being nerfed due to the manner in which they exploit (intentionally or not) the current balancing, might I suggest that the tournament be limited to players 10 - 100?

* Ties - Technically, the game refers to ties as wins. Obviously, this doesn't work in an elimination tournament. I would recommend that those who tie be forced to fight until there is a clear winner.

This sounds awesome, but I don't know what my schedule is for that day, so I can't commit for now.

The tournament is really starting to take shape and I am glad that MageNolan got this ball rolling. There are MANY people that have offered assistance, given wonderful advice and donated items and each of them is very appreciated.

Polyzz - the time would be 1 PM Pacific Standard Time.

I am excited to see everyone organize a tourney. I think we will have to squeeze in some features to allow this sort of thing easier to setup and run in the future. I think it's great everyone is willing to donate prizes. I will ponder some ideas on how to make that sort of thing even easier in the future, too. I can't wait to see who wins! Makes me wish we already had a spectator mode!

I know if i was a dev i would very happy to see this as well.. Players getting together to play a game you all created to have alot of fun/laughs/and well hope not me but deaths.. Good looking out too Mark and hope to see ya in one of these soon..

PvP Update

Overall, the tournament was a lot of fun, but not without a little pain and suffering. Shocked players found themselves in the Pwnston#2 as gathering crowds exceed Pwnston's capacity. Players struggled with the PvP queue system from start to finish, but DR Devs were there to witness the events. As players, we appreciate the devs participation and concern for our enjoyment. We anxiously await additional PvP features to simplify future tournaments.

I am pleased to announce Hang as the level 1-89 Bracket winner. Hang defeated Jabkilla in a close championship match to remain undefeated.

In the senior circuit, Jaysherman and Pharque won their respective brackets. Unfortunately, due to time constraints the championship match remained unfinished. Pharque refused to accept Jaysherman's forfeit so the match has been temporarily postponed. The eventual winner will meet Hang to determine the Overall Dungeon Runners PVP Grand Champion.

I would like to take a moment and thank all the participants, those that donated time and prizes and to LegendRunner that took time away from http://thetownstons.com to officiate the Level 90-100 bracket. This event would not have been possible if it wasn't for the dozens of people that contributed. Thank you all!

To be correct: Pharque and Jaysherman should fight, not jaysherman and viper.
Viperus went 3rd, Bitburger went 4th of the 90-100 tournament, congrats to all 4 of you so far, and congrats to you hang!

Thanks for the Great Event Tristanne. Congrats to Hang for winning in his category. Had a good time even tho I got pwn'd (but I went in knowing this would happen), I did better than I expected to. Thanks also to LegendRunner for Officiating the 90-100 category. Grats to the other prize winners as well!

just wanted to know..if we donated time..when we will be contacted with who our low level is...i am off today and thursday and would like to get it scheduled....i thought the tourny was a great idea...seems like everyone had fun :P

i passed up my winnings on Hang so not sure if they going to let the 2nd place winner use the time. Jabkilla is also i believe in the mid 70s now
