Loss of Sound when someone joins via autojoin
#39505 - 11/24/07 06:02 PM

Whenever I log on, I open group first thing, and go Runnin'
The first person to join always gives me the much hated lag, and 10 secs later all is good.
Except lately, the sound(all sound form my comp) dies for a bit, and then returns, minus all DR sound, and stays that way for the rest of the session....WHICH SUCKS
Any tips on how to rectify this greatly appreciated, or someone to commiserate as well!
Keep up the awesome game, and bring us those kick as features you been teasing us w/

Wow that is not good. Quick question, are you on a Member account when you are seeing this lag when players join the group?

Also is the lag only on the first person joining the group, but not when more members join?

Same with the sound loss; was this on a member account?

Thanks!

for me it's free accounts. It is always worse with the first join up, but it doesn't go away for later joinings.

I concur with the original poster. In regards to the sound issue, I have experienced this on my member account, as well as on my account before I became a member. It seemed to happen 90%+ of the time before chunk 2, and since chunk 2 until this past week, the problem seemed to be solved. This past week though, I've been losing sound roughly 50% of the time after joining any group.

As for the lag on join, this always has been the case. You learn a few tricks to cope with the problem though. First, when inviting someone to your group, you only do it after you clear the mob you're fighting, or it's certain death due to lag. When you join a group, before the first battle, you need to run towards the monsters and turn back and run away before they see you to catch the lag at that time instead of 3 seconds into the first fight. Not doing this is also certain death due to lag. As for having an open group, well, good luck, just know you're guaranteed death when someone joins mid battle.

Never seen the loss of sound but then i play on mute quite a bit so this may be why. The lag as phobic said has always been there. I find it worse when I am joining a group though than when I invite others to mine. Usually lasts a few 10-15 seconds then comes back fine.

What kind of sound card do you have? do you experience any other audio issues with you computer?

In regards to the lag, what connection do you have? what kind of CPU?

Yipes. This may be caused by our voice chat implementation. Please PM Kamil with your machine details if you're having this problem. We'd like to get it fixed.
