Umm, I dont go to the carebear forum..so your safe. Your opinion might hold value in the magical world you live in but I can promise noone with more than 10 wins by thier name cares what you have to say about pvp changes. -------------------- Trample the weak. Hurdle the dead. |

Ahh, I clearly misunderstood who you were directing your angry spew at. My mistake. The point still stands though... attacking folks that make suggestions isn't very nice. My take on that is that you're an angry person. Either that, or you thrive on griefing. So that's why you want your dominant strategy to stay! ![]() steve |

Quote: We all have takes. Mine is that your a self important egomaniac which I draw based off your comment the other night about how you were a "professional game developer". Im a medical sales rep but that doesnt make me more qualified to speak on medicine than the docs who are my customers. Let that one marinate awhile. As far as your griefing theory, you couldnt be further from the truth as when I go up by more than 3 kills in a match I stop attacking unless attacked( except when fighting you). I even help *gasp* people with tactics and builds..references available upon request. I dont have a problem with anger either..I am just confident enough to express how I feel. Call it anger if you like. Wont chip the paint on my white picket fence. PS...there is always a dominant strategy in pvp on mmo's unless you make everyone have the same equipment, level, and build..no charge for the information. -------------------- Trample the weak. there is no real dominant strategy in pvp..sure its hard to defend against a mage as we can switch gear to find your weak spot during the battle but then we also dont get fear, haste, and no crit % armor. |

Quote: Egomaniac? Hardly. Self-important? Yup. I love me. Jay, in case you haven't noticed, I am a professional game developer. There's nothing egomaniacial in saying that. I believe the entire dev team is filled with professional game developers. That comment was in response to your insistent disagreement with the coming balance changes. On hearing about these changes you started saying things like "I'm gonna quit" and "You're ruining the game". Since you refuse to argue the merits of the coming changes, I had to resort to a comforting statement like "I'm a professional game developer". That's means "trust me, I know what I'm doing". As always, I want to hear your feedback... experienced PvP players are a critical source of information. I'll chat at length with you about how the game should be changed and updated. So, suggesting that we don't listen to the customers is a bit melodramatic in my opinion. Not to mention, it's a bit mean. As for my griefing comment... I don't doubt that you are helpful to people you like in the game. I based that comment on the fact that you attack those that disagree with you as well as emotionally defending your dominant strategy. My apologies if my comment caused you any upset. ![]() steve |

Egomaniac? Not with that kind of avatar...more like shameless. *hides from Stephen* There's no need to make negative assumptions when it comes to someone else's personal characteristics. Let's know the difference between a "discussion" and an "argument" and avoid venturing into argument-land, please. Stephen is being the nice guy here by letting this go on further than I normally would - no more personal knocks or I end it myself. I'm truly a nice person, but the sheriff of the boards sometimes has to lay down the law Let's just keep this in mind before hitting that reply button, please. I don't want this discussion to be killed by me due to inappropriate behavior. It would be a shame. i agree stephen does care about the community and tries to cater to the players but its a hard balance to please everyone at the same time.. All the devs can do is take our feedback with their very own and try to make the best game as possible. |

well i was gone for a little while and when i come back i see this nice little thread and what can i say... stepehn i respect you and your work Jay you are the one and only person in the game that is simply better than me at what i do so i respect you even more lets recapitulate and see if i understood it all there is a man here that says he has zero pvp wins zero pvp loss and he is proud of him jay is telling the guy to go to hell without showing diplomacy steph interferes and makes a statement on jay's behavior on a daily basis as "an angry person" wowowow tell me if i am wrong Stephen but Jay is a customer and you just cant show him such disrespect without not getting away with it if i had been told the same by any developpers i would cancel all my accounts right ahead jusr for the terrible mistake done toward the costumer that i am to be honest guys if you really knew how to deal with such situations you could just send a PM to the person that sent a hard line to a public and remind him very politely that children my be posting those mindles posts and that by letting them get away with it will just save the time waste anyway what i think is that a costumer should not be spoken to like this without getting true apologises those are basics marketing rules stephen you must keep in mind that jay is not just "an angry guy" he is the best dueler in the game and he is willing to see your game evolving by having a debate going on with the pros duelers even if there only are like ten of them when a guy shows up and say i never tried pvp i never will devs should not waste time developing pvp so much (when he does not even know who is doing what out there) it is like almost normal that this guy is taken out to the exit the rough way as it would happen in any place in any country at the entrance of a vip area wich is what i think this post was supposed to be sorry if this sounds weird but i really think there are things that must not be done and Jay is not the one that was the worst i mean come on just look at my sig ? -------------------- Pandemonical Harbinger of Death "Can you hear the train of death passing by ?" Quote: this sounds like your bringing me in it here so i will gladly jump in ....the worst what? I can talk smack if u talk smack to me ..sure! ....saying jay is the best dueler is incorrect ...take "the best dueler" in context ..he may be the best shadow mage ..but far from the overall best dueler ...sure he can kill most ppl and win a duel against most ..however ...he has not changed his stratagy at all for a win ..recently he cas been attempting to play as a fighter ..but with no win against me this way ..so if u believe that the best dueler only consists of one stratagy ....sure ..than your right ...but i would disagree and say simply that .."the best dueler" ..would be one who can and has changed tactics ..stratagy ..and classes ..all with renowned sucess ..reguardless if there is a dominating stratagy that can win...never played as a lvl 100 mage tho ...im not interested in playing dominating stratagy...i like diverse stratagies ..and diverse tactics underdog FTW!! -------------------- Wreker 1500 pvp wins lvl 100 Wreckit 1350 pvp wins lvl 45 You all have been Wreked Edited by wreker (11/19/07 08:13 PM) |

Pharque: I meant no disrespect to Jay. None at all. I feel that my comments were totally appropriate for the situation. I wasn't rude, snide or in any other way disrespectful toward Jay. I was just making an observation that he seems like an "angry person". Jay has publicly chastized more than one customer for their input on PvP. I'm strongly against anyone's feedback being brushed aside. Heck, even his signature says "The toon you love to hate". He's either mean or just loves to stir up trouble (i.e. griefer). Is it really so rude to make such an observation? No offense intended... nor do I believe that there was any offense taken. If Jay was upset by my comments in any way, I would happily oblige him with a public apology. ![]() steve |

Quote: NOTE: This isnt a post to flame or quote on, in any way, this is an IMO post, and I believe its a pretty good one, too. This is a fully neutral post, still I take a few comments through the filter. Also I dont call names, find out yourself whenever its targeted to you or not. /sigh. I think misunderstanding is the biggest factor here. Every sentence is under an heavy attack. I believe that in no way there is such a thing as the best, we always speak of "one of the best", as the day after, you could get owned bad, and then your not the best anymore. So anyone that feels like one of the best, proof you are if not already done, and live with the title:"One of the best", as that is, I believe, enough to be recognised as one. Saying things to people like you dont deserve to post a comment here because "blahblah" isnt what I call nice. I afcourse, make exceptions. As when someone never pvped, and start to flame and suggest things about pvp, I agree. When someone is wondering if work is made on pve too, you should leave the person alone, and let someone answer it. Flaming doesnt make anyone better in anyway, nor gives any profit, so why do it? The thread isnt yours, the devs are owner of it. I can understand that people comment when such a flame exists, and I keep neutral, but dont find it that "worse" to call someone angry, in a way of:"Cool down a bit, you dont have the right to say that", as that was the case. This thread was for PvP rewards, not a flame-like-mad thread. So I think tis the best to go on about that. Now off the neutral side: I dont find it nice to say "you ruin the game" to people that actually made the game. As mentioned before this game was originally an RTS, making this into a MMO and adding loads of things, INCLUSIVE PvP, what you all like so much, isnt what I call ruining. Making it good for everyone isnt possible in a single hit, thats why this game is still growing. Now As I said, go on about PvP rewards, and dont discuss/flame yourself to a ban, or something negative. -------------------- LegendRunner - level 100 Ace something The Townstons Wiki Archive! - Boss of TT Dont Feed The Trolls! Quote:Quote: Wreker, why you feel you must jump in a downplay my skill or lack of is laughable. Since you brought it up however, I will respond. I enjoy playing a mage. Period. I have tried a fighter a few times over the last few days and you beat me one time solo 5-3. You are a fighter. I was playing it with a level 95 weapon, mage boots, a few rbs and some purple gear so dont break you arm patting yourself on the back. You and aswun beat me as a group also until I switched to mage and I wont post the score to the match due to my respect for Aswun. -------------------- Trample the weak. Hurdle the dead. |

Quote: I appreciate Phars defense of me as he is truly a friend. But you are correct stephen, you didnt nor could you offend me. That doesnt mean your statement was any less unfounded.I for one would have trouble feeding my family if I spoke to one of my Docs( paying customers) that way but that is the difference between the internet and "real life". The toon you love to hate sig line is in reference to a early 90s hip hop album by ice cube. Dont try to read to much into a sig line. There is a difference in trash talk and griefing. If I could have saved some of the tells I get after winning a match, they would make a sailor blush. That, like it or not, happens when people compete. At least in evry mmo I have played over the last 12+ years from UO, DAOC, D2 and the list goes on. All that being said, no apology is necessary. Just remember each time you hit "respawn" and that is good enough for me -------------------- Trample the weak. Hurdle the dead. |

lets face it if you are lvl 100 and been the same build since lvl 1 against a person who was another build since lvl 1 and then decided to switch would lose.. there are tricks of the trade that goes along with lvls as well with the many hours it takes to farm gear, with the skills you use so please take it for what its worth.. just cause a person switched builds and isnt as strong as his other build doesnt mean he isnt good its mostly gear as gear PLAYS a good amount in pvp and for anyone to switch to another build with limited bank space till next chunk who goes up agaisnt somebody who has been the build and farming for that for that for many months will have the upperhand Edited by clamm (11/20/07 01:22 PM) |
