So around level 60 you begin running into +crushing dps ranger gear. You can bump into it sooner on one rainbow helm that combines ranged and crushing bonuses.

Ive asked world chat and usually someone says "random". And thats not it. This game doesnt have diablos loot system where everything could be matched up with everything. This game has loot organized around patterns.

The patterns arnt all that random. For example youll never see a piece of plate armor with +agi and +piercing. You will see plate armor with +strength and +piercing. And you will see plate armor with half agi and half strength. But never a perfect +agi and +piercing. I say "perfect" because it would be perfect for rangers to get plate AC without loosing any dps. And the devs saw this so they organized the loot system so it provided "themes".

Anyone that played the heck out of diablo 2 and this game can see the difference right away.

But anyway prior to level 60s late 50s you never run into any ranger gear with +crushing. Its only when that blubber gear comes in that we see crushing and ranger stats mixed.

But... why?
Is it left over from beta? Is it dev error? Whats up.

I am trying to think if there is any ranged weapon that does crushing damage. As on right now I don't think so. Shottys are slashing and xbows are piercing. I think there is talk of new weapons for rangers (possible slingshots?) that would be crushing damage. I have a feeling the modifiers for the armor were introduced before the weapons themselves were. Just my take on it given that I am pretty sure that modifier is new and not a left over from beta.

So you can look coolz in lower DR ranger gear while DW maces!!

Ehh.. Joe.. It is a left over from the beta. I do see % crushing damage on ranger gear already for a loooong time. Maybe 1H Guns will be crushing damage? It sounds a bit strange indeed.. What arrow can possible Crush? Well.. We have to see it. Im sure there will come a crushing damage weapon for ranger.. ever.

Mildly off subject, but...

I imagine that would do crushing damage :P

crushing ranger gear has been a phenominon for some time now ....well...since i beguan playing ....but ...the one way u could use it ...is in pvp if u wanted to suprize an opponent and ...as rangers youve been practicing switching your wepon already ....u could switch to a fast crushing melee wepon in some cases ...and have it work with that type of gear.....now ...is it worth it for bank space?....dunno ...how effective would it be?...hell ..who knows ...

distant demon essence of the bulky lama just dropped for lvl 19 which has %1 crushing on it. with 10 agi, 10 end, +9 ranged speed.

Maybe the new ranger rifle in the upcoming patch will be "crushing" dmg...

Dunno if that makes sense.

Arrows pierce... no doubting that
Shotguns little pellets shred flesh so that's slashing...
BFG 9001... its a laser of sorts...slashing

Rifles?...Guns?... Ok if you take it back to it's bigger cousin the canon sure crushing.

I was kinda joking about the rifle/crushing thing- I agree it should be piercing, but we all know how silly good ol' DR is!

Crushing damage for ranged gear was added in expectation of two-handed cannons showing up. We're still putting the finishing touches on them.
