A Few Thoughts From an Ex-Beta Player
#37591 - 10/21/07 11:37 PM |
Well, this is interesting. I was in the beta for a while. I liked what I saw. Then due to computer issues, I was unable to update the client. Even wiping and reinstalling didn't work. It might have been registry issues. Anyway, while I was in the early beta, I never got to see the end result. Ultimately, I just deleted the whole thing and chalked it up to unresolvable stuff. Then I got an email from NCSoft and it reminded me that there was such a thing as Dungeon Runners. I figured, what the heck, it's free. And since I'm a fan of NCSoft products (Auto Assault- beta and paid, may it rest in peace as well as the TR beta) I might as well give it a shot. Well... I got the "Blew a Chunk" newsletter on the 12th of this month. Installed it. Went member on the 17th. And I'm addicted to this sucker. Maybe it was the computer upgrade that fixed my problem. Maybe it was the TR installation and the newer versions of the Play NC Launcher... Regardless, I'm really loving this game. It has so many things that are just so... correct, for want of a better word. I got my girlfriend to start playing it today. And she went right to membership as well. I have a level 17 fighter, but I'm working up a mage to work with her new fighter so that we can team up. All I can say is, "fun game". And what better thing can you say about a game than that? One gripe. Sometimes my fighter thinks the name of the game should be called "Rare Crossbow Drop That I Don't Need Runners". |

Good to see you came back to the game. Love the other title but really it has gotten sooooo much better than it used to be. Should have been around right after beta ended it was so much worse. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY SirOldBottom - Level 36 - Shadow Merc Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage Dungeon Runners Map Build 0.91a |

I'm sorry to hear about your previous installation problems. Remember that we do have a customer support team that can help you with these issues, if another issue were to come up. We don't want you go to crazy trying to figure it all out all by your lonesome...I really try my best to make these "Customer Support" sticky threads as obvious as possible on the forums. ![]() Either way, I'm glad to hear that it is working for you now and that you are now enjoying the game. A lot has changed since "the early days" as I call them...for me one of coolest changes was the quest difficulty slider. :P -------------------- "Always keep your words soft and sweet in case you have to eat them" Crickette Dungeon Runners Community Manager |

"Blew a chunk" brought me back to the game too. And now, I keep saying I'll only play for an hour and 4 hours later I finally shut the darn game off. (It's that "Just one more dungeon" mentality....) |

That 'just one more dungeon' mentality has cost me some hours of sleep (Can I sue? ) - I will get on and say to myself "Ok, just gonna bumble around for about an hour" - 2 hours later I am saying to myself "Just one more level" or "The next dungeon will be it".![]() |

Quote: Hehe - I did the trial for L2 and it had a notice every little while saying that it would be a good idea to take a rest from the game. First game I ever saw with that type of notice. |

Quote:Quote: I remember those days. DR fills a much needed niche in my world. I too find myself saying "Just one more dungeon". "Rare crossbow drop that I didn't need runners." - Nice. I agree. The difficulty slider has to be the greatest thing any mmo could have added. I wish City of Heroes and other games would do that, instead of having to find an npc to change the difficulty.
