Best Build to Solo Bosses
#37554 - 10/20/07 01:17 PM |
I can easily solo anything else in the game , but when it comes to bosses I get creamed. Is there any build tips you might have for soloing them? I am a level 31 mage all my equipment evenly splits int and endurance. I put all my stats in int. My skills: Firebolt FireRing Gaseous Blast Heal Self Average BMI Gym Freak Couch Patato The 2 major mage skills for mana and damage Shadow lightning Right now I am on Rotgut and he slaughters me in 1 second... I am also not a member. Edited by RedBirdChaos (10/20/07 01:20 PM) |

add the blue shiled it is your first level of protection for hard hits. after that on boss's your main handy weapon is ice bolt .you can kill any of them with it it just takes longer. I am not sure that the new critical hitwill help any -------------------- Ghad. Personally, I prefer Shadow Bolt to Fire Bolt. While it seems like Fire Bolt has a higher damage, Shadow Bolt has a much higher minimum damage, and on average it is more powerful than Fire Bolt. It also deals damage in three shots, so the chances of a spell not doing any damage is low. Heal Self, Not Other doesn't seem useful outside of PvP, since you can simply use potions, and the spell is interrupted easily by attacks. Shadow Lightning isn't much use when you are fighting a single target. Toxic Talent boosts the damage dished out by Gaseous Blast by a hefty amount, so I bring that along as well. Ice Bolt is, like someone said, very important. Blue Screen of Life is a personal preference, some people like it and some don't. I personally think it's useful, mainly because I lose HP and MP at the same rate when I use it. |

I finally soloed him at level 35. The only thing I changed was to use Icebolt. Which worked wonders in slowing him down. I also used Icebolt against Abaddon at level 39 to solo him. Took me 2 inventories of health potion though and about 7 lives. Most of those were used in killing his guards. |

It is possible to solo Rotgut at a level 30+ as a mage, but personally I don't think it is worth it. Compared to other methods of farming. |

Oh, Rotgut is both fun and rewarding when you farm in a group. For a mage, however, I find it inefficient to solo him compared to soloing easier bosses, or to farm in groups. |

I wasn't trying to farm him. I don't farm bosses. I was just trying to solo him to get to the next stage. Since you can't get their until you defeat him. Or at least you couldn't prior to patch .95. |

First, dump heal self. It's not really useful outside PvP, because you can just spam pots. Use Mana Shield instead, as it will protect you from the hard hits. Second, add hardheadedness. This will enable you to avoid being stunned so often by Rotgut's attacks. Third, if you're putting all your points into INT, make sure your equipments gives you enough END. Finally, try and get equipment that focuses your damage bonuses on one element, and blast away with that. -------------------- CaptJack, Lvl 45 Shadow Merc. Edited by CaptJack (10/25/07 11:04 AM) |
