A Build Guide?
#37345 - 10/16/07 08:35 AM

All equipable items come with stats on them. So plan on getting one or two of your stats from your equipment and don't bother to put points into those. You well get all the points you need from those skills from your equipment.

Only put level up stat points in up to two stats. Any more than that and you are spreading around your points to far.

My favorite is to put points in the stats I for my build and skip endurance. All builds need endurance. So just get Pure Endurance Crystal Armor. This well give you all the endurance you need to finish the game. It also allows you to easily respec your character. Since you always have the right equipment. You just need the right weapons and skills and to place your stat points in the right stats for your build.

Primary Stats for the different builds~
Fighter:
Strength
Agility

Ranger:
Agility

Mage:
Intelligence

Mage Warrior or Ranger?:
Intelligence
Agility

Weapon Speed~
All weapons come with there own built in weapon speed. There is much arguing over which is the best weapon speed to do the job. What it comes down to though is what you like. All the weapons tend to kill at almost the same rate. It should be noted that dual wielding causes a increase in wielding speed as an added bonus for uses two weapons at the same time.

Primary Passives~
Fighter or Ranger:
Gym Freak
Average BMI

Anything Mage:
Gym Freak
Average BMI
Bookworm
Couch Potato

Please Feel free to fill in the blanks in your comments. Also give your own guides on how to build characters.

Have bean testing out builds and found that if you put your stats in the stats you need for your main build that the best armor to get for killing speed and life , In my Opinion , Is armor that splits Endurance and the main build stat(for fighters this would be strength). To make your kill speed as fast as possible while still giving you a respectable life pool.

You will still tank well , but you will kill a lot faster. Making the enemies die faster means you take less damage so use up less HP.

Endurance Build:

Place all your points from leveling up in endurance. Get all the stats you need for your build from equipment.

Optimally:

Fighter
All Strength Equipment Except for Agility jewelry.

Ranger
All Agility Equipment

Mage
All Intelligence equip

Have tested this build on insane and found it works well. You can easily switch between builds if you keep one of each suit of equipment in the bank. Making for a wide range of tactics available. Works even better since they made a percentage of member items available. Though it still works best if you are a member.

We are getting more and more builds in the Guide at Dungeon Runners Wiki http://www.thetownstons.com,fighters, mages and rangers as well as hybrids. Check it out. But we still need more. Anybody who has a build that really works, please add it for us. Also we really need PvP build guides.

Endurance Build:
Updated 080828

Place all your points from leveling up in endurance. Get all the stats you need for your build from equipment.

Optimally:
Fighter
All Strength Equipment Except for Agility jewelry.

Ranger
All Agility Equipment

Mage
All Intelligence equip

If you feel you have enough of one stat and need a little of another you can switch out a piece of jewelry for the one containing the appropriate stat. Such as fighters and Rangers needing more intelligence for their skills.

You can easily switch between builds if you keep one of each suit of equipment in the bank. Making for a wide range of tactics available. Works even better since they made a percentage of member items available. Though it still works best if you are a member.

It is no longer advisable to equip GymFreak as a Ranger. Though you can equip Average BMI if you want the small boost it gives you.

Equip a Intelligence/Endurance ranged weapon as a mage to be the most effective. This will keep you from closing to melee with the enemy constantly with shadow lightning.

I haven't yet found a use for it , but you don't lose much from equipping the Trigger Happy along with Mentall Prowess and Bookworm.

Chill Bill and all his support spells make a great combo with Monster Bait.

As for which other skills are good and which aren't. I can't tell you that. I am terrible at games. You just buy them all and find the ones that work for you.

A Build Guide
vB post 137875 - 09/12/08 06:05 AM

PVE Hybrid Fighter/Mage
Warning: HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL

This is an alternative of the Endurance build.
Place all points from leveling in Endurance.

Skills:
Shadow Lightning
Gaseous Blast
Ring of Fire
1H Swivel Arm Action
? Mad Melee Mastery ?
Gym Freak
BookWorm
Mental Prowess
Way of the Roo
Soul Rend

Equip:
2 Full Intelligence 1 Hand Weapons
All Full Strength Armor
1 Full Intelligence Jewelry
2 Full Agility Jewelry

Try to get Bonuses to both shadow damage and crushing damage.

This build can be highly button intensive. So don't use if you just like to click the mouse and an occasional button.

I am still Experimenting with this build. So I don't know how well it does. It is extremely fun and different though.

Hope I didn't forget anything.

Here's a nice pve build that I played with before I switched my main back to fighter. It's an all int pranger. (Put all stat points on int)

You will get some end and agi from the Bone Splint set.

Equipment :

I recommend wearing a Jackalope's Visage because of the bonus to poison attacks. For the weapon, Master Chef's Toxic Flood Gun With Great Vengeance and Power works best, in my opinion. (It has agi and int boost, and +% poison).

For the rest, get either Bone Splints or Military sets.

If you're lucky you can find the 'perfect' equips at the amazon. These are bone splints or militaries with these stats:

Agi/End
End/Int
Agi/Int

+ range damage per second
+ poison attacks
+ ranged critical hit chance
+ slashing attacks

These all work well because after all, you are a ranger, and you still need some agi, although not as much because you're gonna be relying at your poison skills more. Just enough to land those poison hits and not miss enough, so your damage is consistent.

As for accessories, Medusa's Engagement ring and Mystical Green Glowstick On A String are recommended.

If you can find a pacifier with +all int and +% to poison then that's even better!

This build kills mobs really fast, considering that they are clumped together. You can use monster bait for that reason. It has lower one-on-one damage output compared to a mage because this build has lower overall int than most mages, but it kills weak mobs really really fast, maybe even faster than a mage can. I also suggest using either Shadow Bolt or Crispy Critters for fillers because poison can't be stacked.

Recommended skills (What I used):

L : Noxious Shot
R : Shadow Bolt
1 : Toxic Talent
2 : Gaseous Blast
3 : Monster Bait
4 : BSoL (Since you have a lot of int and mana, you can take advantage of this awesome skill. Booya!)
5 : Bling Gnome
6 : Bookworm
7 : Mental Prowess
8 : Barf-o-Rama

I had 7somethingk hp and 34k mana when I used this build. I think having less mana and increasing your hp to 10k would work better.

I wanted to put this at thetownstons website but I suck at wiki editing, so I decided against it. If you want a little preview, you can check out my little alt "skyeatsairplane" linked on my sig. It's not the optimum build, but she's getting there.

Which usually is about 100 x Your Level in Attack Rating.

PVE Hybrid Fighter/Mage
Edit:09152008 0615CDT

This is an alternative of the Endurance build.
Place all points from leveling in Endurance.

Skills:
Soul Rend
Gaseous Blast
Monster Bait
? Mad Melee Mastery ?
? I'm Rubber , You're Screwed ?
Gym Freak
BookWorm
Mental Prowess
Way of the Roo
Ring of Fire

Equip:
1 Full Intelligence 1 Hand Weapons
1 Full Intelligence Shield
All Full Strength Armor
1 1/2 Intelligence 1/2 Agility Jewelry
2 Full Agility Jewelry

Try to get Bonuses to both Fire damage and devine damage.

I am still Experimenting with this build. So I don't know how well it does. It is extremely fun and different though. It has made it through RotGut in "The Room of Creation" solo at level 25. So I am moving the build from Expiremental to Good. A similar build I have tried on the PTS server that uses My Flaming Buddy instead of Ring of Fire has successfully taken down Balzack solo at level 63 with only 3 deaths per run and good profit.

Hope I didn't forget anything. Thanks to for posting your own builds in this thread.

Uber Nuke Mage Build
vB post 139605 - 09/23/08 11:47 PM

Making a Mage Tank is the dumbest idea ever, and if you actually do it, please, just delete that character. If you make a tank, you're severely limiting your damage capabilities. Health isn't a problem if you rape everything before it gets near you.

Stats:
Pure Intellect

If you dump so much as a single point into another stat, your character might as well have an "Out of Order" sign on it because its worthless.

Equipment:

Here is where you've got room to play around with. If you want to get some extra kick from your spells, simply get +Intellect gear, but if you'd like a safety belt, by all means get +Endurance gear. As long as you focus all of your gear on one Stat, you can easily make up for the fact that all your stats were put into Intellect.

Why does this build work? Because since Intellect increases your Spell Damage, and Mages are Nukers, you can pretty much nuke for massive amounts of damage and not even worry about getting hit, since you'll obliterate everything in your path. Your gear can compensate for your Defense/Health Points as mentioned earlier. Tank Mages are a waste, and Uber-Nuke mages are fun and practical

**BE FOREWARNED THOUGH**
Since you'll have low health, you better plan on spending some extra Gold on lots-o-potions, you'll need them. Leveling this build isn't hard, but staying alive in some Dungeons can be, even still, the risk is well worth the reward.

Please don't put down a potential build. While you like yours , some may like something different.

As a new player, a Fighter, I've been putting level points as 2 str 1 agi 2 end based on a recc somewhere. I was thinking this was spreading points too thin, but then again I don't really see much of a bump whichever way I go.

How much does respecs cost - the button doesn't pull an automatic on you does it?

I also see that str and agi are formally equally important for a fighter. I can also see where the endurance is made up on armor. So based on that would it be smart to do 3 str 2 agi, or just say screw the agi and go 5 str?

Alternatively, which stat should I max as a fighter to get fighter drops? With my 2-1-2 build I get tons of ranger and mage equipment with nearly no fighter drops.

Could it be from my newbie-buildguide found here?

Depends on your level. You can click it without being afraid you will pay a bunch of gold, you will have to confirm after you've clicked it.

You need a lot of Agi as a Fighter or else you just hit thin air. I usually tell new players to alternate 2STR, 2AGI, 1END every other level and 2STR, 1AGI, 2END every other. Worked great for me. Not until I got higher level and had equipment that would last some time I needed to re-spec my stats for effectiveness.

It's all random. As a Fighter, it sure feels like most drops is for Mage and Ranger. It's the same no matter what class you play.

Oh, and welcome to the game and the forums.

That's what I want to try Khazandra, especially since End is on a ton of items.
