Need Convincing
#37005 - 10/09/07 08:46 PM |
I played this game for a week. During that time I was completely addicted. Now though I got burned out on it. Can someone try to convince me to continue playing the game? -------------------- Hey all. I'm Corinthal from Dungeon Runners. Most commonly found in world 7. Hope to group with you all soon. |

Take a week off. No seriously, I did this recently myself. I've been playing this game for 16 months and just wanted a bit of a breather. <tangent> I honestly don't expect other people to be quite as crazy as me, most will play for 6 months or less, and the game is really designed with players like this in mind. I know Ripper mentioned that he was worried about the game's population being based around "churn" and I can see where this would be a concern. In most cases "churn" is a bad thing. You want to keep subscribers happy and paying monthly. I truly hope the element of Free To Play/Ad Supported with the option of Subscription may be the thing that keeps this game going for a very very long time. I can see now why NCSoft wanted to try out this business model. I don't even think this game has been offered to the real target audience yet, it's still us "real gamers". During the Beta test Stephen mentioned to me once that maybe they should have gotten some testers who were not gamers at all, that it would give the devs that perspective. I think he was probably right. </tangent> When I came back I started up a new toon and worked on farming Rasputin for loot. It was still fun, at least for me. Plus if you take a break, it doesn't matter too much, leveling is fast and loot is plentiful. -------------------- ------------------------------------------------- MamaAnarchia Level 100 Genius Arch Arcane Mage Parkaboy Level 53 Athletic Seasoned Poison Ranger CaycePollard (50) BooneChu (8) Retired. well I'll try to get back in to it this friday. Maybe I just need to do one week of playing a week off. But I really like this game and don't want to quit but it also gets boring with all the quests that are really just the same thing over and over again. Besides that playing just to get money and upgrade your character to me doesn't constitute as a fun time. Howaver I do enjoy the social aspects of the game. -------------------- Hey all. Chiming in... I think you hit on a very good point in your second post. The social component is a highlight as well. Running the dungeons is pretty much mindless. But, that is part of what makes it a good game to take up and put down then pick back up again. The social component, though, is good to just hang out while running dungeons. In the end... you don't need to take this game serious, and it's a good idea not to. Hell... the game doesn't take itself seriously. Why should we? But this is another reason to like it. Myself, I can go a few days without logging in at all. Then I'll log in one night for an hour and run one level then log out again. I really like this game for that flexibility. There are no expectations placed on me that I have to be somewhere at a certain time for a certain time and have certain items available or I get left behind. That's not a game... that's a job. I got that from 7:30 to 4:00. No sense in bringing that home. Again, in the end... play to what your needs for that night are. Don't need to think about anything more than that. Just let the fun happen. -------------------- I was young and needed the experience points. Tet - Lvl 50something Fighter Loose - Lvl 30something Mage |

Well, I'm the kind of gamer who has played console majority of my life. All games on consoles had an exact goal. MMO's are extremely free form. I'm not used to it. That's why when I attempted WoW I didn't like it because there was just too much in it. But this game is okay. -------------------- Hey all. I'm Corinthal from Dungeon Runners. Well my computer isn't high end, yet. It's pretty good can run at least oblivion at near recommended requirements. There are several games I've been playing though so I think I'll play some tomorrow, finally. -------------------- Hey all. I'm Corinthal from Dungeon Runners. Most commonly found in world 7.
