Big Change
#36934 - 10/08/07 08:19 PM |
I am a mage class, but I completly shaped my character wrong. It is more of a mage/fighter. I would kind of like to change it into a mage, but all my rb's and items are fighter except for amybe 3. So I need help. I am level 22, so it isn't to late to change this around. 1. How should I respec my skills 2. Anybody hava any mage purps or rbs at lv. 22 or so that they don't want I kinda noticed that I can't really become a mage until a higher level since all of the magic sucks right now. I have a lot of skills, but I still can't help my self but melee an opponent to death. I have some sweet mage armor at level 31, but I still need more. Unless you think a mage/fighter hybrid is a good idea |

Level 22 is a great time to change from Tank Mage to Pure Mage but only do so if it is something you want to do. You play the game for you and not everyone else. ![]() As for the skills, I would say that the most common builds for a pure mage are all Int with a few, if any, points dropped into End and/or Str. That is followed up by your choice of passives and damage spells. For example, I will drop my mage build below. (I am a Ranger with Primary and the mage is an Alt. The way I play may or may not work well for you.) End increased to a base of 40 with everything else going into Int. Gear is focused towards Int with bonuses to Shadow/Fire. LB: Firebolt RB: Shadow Lightning 1: Ring of Fire 2: Gas Blast (Ranger tree) 3: Blue Screen 4: Spirit of the Hare (Ranger tree) 5: Imp Shadow Passive 6-8: 3 base Mage Passives I do not use that build to kill bosses. It is basically meant to clean yard trash and then assist with the bosses when grouped. I rush in and hit ring, gas, the lightning and use Firebolt to pick up the 1 or 2 left standing. It works for me when building the levels and I am not useless while grouped. I let the fighters and rangers focus on the big guys while I clear the trash to help keep them alive. As for gear, don't focus on rainbows. Aim for purples that will hold you for a few levels and take rainbows as a bonus. And don't be shocked to see a rather nice yellow now and then. My 100 Ranger has a pair of yellow boots that supports the build better then most purple or rainbow gear I have seen. -------------------- Pullus, Level 100 Ranger Exitium, Level 60+ Mage |

On my mage, before I went pure int and started usin blue screen(you need like lvl 30 or osmethin), I did about half and half in my stat poitns between end/int and got a lotta gear with +int and spell dmg. Then I got gym freak to make a lot more hp. -25% mana doesnt hurt you much once you get higher and the extra hp helps a lot with the setup. Since i was a AoE mage my skills looked sometin like this: L: Shadow Lightning 1: Gaseous Blast 2: Ring of Fire 3: Smackdown 4: Spontaneous Re-Generation 5: Improved Shadow Lightning 6: Gym Freak 7: Mental Prowess 8: Bookworm R: Shadowbolt Ring of Fire and Shadow Lightning are the ones I used most since Gaseous Blast requires you to get in the middle of the enemies to be effective. Its good for leveling. I use shadowbolt to take out 1 or 2 enemies left over. P.S.: I respeced at lvl 35 so Im not sure how good it is at lower lvls. Also respecing at higher lvls costs a fortune but it is still pretty easy. -------------------- Insanity is not Statistical. Edited by Rebel (10/08/07 11:24 PM) |

I didn't respec to a pure mage build til around lvl 60 with Bogey. 90% to Int the other 10% I split between end and agi nothing to str. By lvl 90 i had 30k mana and stayed around 8k health. Now this was before the AoE's got limited. Primarily used Shadow Lightening and Gaseous Blast. Had it down to where I could run Demonic Crypts in about 4 minutes.
