i got directx 9.0c and it worked before the reformat and i uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and tried downloads from 3 seperate places including the one from NCsoft page

Did you reinstall the .NET framework?

yeah i did reinstall .netframe 2.0, and already had the mxsl or something like that already.. i also did some google searching for the fix and it looks like a .net problem but i even tried to uninstall and reinstall .net but to no avail

Did you go straight to 2.0 or did you install 1.1 first? I'm not sure that it matters but it might. No harm in trying either, right?

It's probably unnecessary but whenever I redo my system I install .NET 1.1 first then get the patches then get 2.0 and patches.

i fixed my problem on playing.. the disk i got from HP had a corrupted .Net file on it so i had to use it just for windows then use another window XP pro disk to install .Net and it works.. however i still cant connect to server upgrades but i am able to play the game.. i get what those others get for not being able to DL updates.. has something to do with my isp and router but after 2 days of reformatting, installing OP i wont bother asking why that is for a bit as i cleaned out of bloody mary supply and will need to refresh it in order to fix the problem which will take hours

if anyone ever gets that message its a bad .net framework file and needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled via OS disk given then upgraded..

Even better option is to just uninstall .NET then go to Windows Update and download all the .NET framework applications directly from the source.

i tried that as well and each time i DLed .Net from the microsoft i got DL was unsuccessful so then i reformatted again

Guess these are reasons while I'll never buy a pre-built system with proprietary parts.
