Passive Ability skills
#36229 - 09/26/07 02:58 PM |
Ok i did a couple of searches and didnt see exactly what i wanted on this topic so i apologize up front if i did happen to miss it. But I was wondering if they planned on adding a skills bar to drop your passive abilities into (i.e. gym freak, etc)? it takes up vital space that i would like to reserve for my spells and buffs. -------------------- " Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu...Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote!!!" It hasn't ever been mentioned, but it's been discussed by the players many times. Personally, I feel that the number of slots is fine. In 75 levels on my main (and on my countless other characters), I've never "needed" any more slots. In my opinion, the limit on slots forces you to think about what you really need vs. want for your particular build. In essence, it forces you to create a "build" of skills instead of simply loading all available skills. As more and more skills are added, I may change my mind. I do think, however, that the ability to swap pvp and pve skill trays would be nice as would the ability to toggle between weapons. Both of these ideas have been commented on positively by the devs. |

I agree, Ripper. I mean, with the LB and RB slots, we get two more slots than Guild Wars has. -------------------- Artek - Lvl 14 Ranger Rufgar - Lvl 23 Fighter Argel - Lvl 32 Mage |

All passives have a positive effect on life, so its sort of a trade off. Either more skills or better stats, if youd rather have more skills you forget the passives (except gymfreak). |

currently i think the number is fine and helps balance things. i use 3 passives and am fine with what i use, still have all the skills i need, and when i pvp i swap what i want when i log on the pvp server and im fine. id love to see a gear toggle as well as a skill toggle, with apropriate penelties/cooldowns so this ability isnt abused |

yep, Fine as it is. I mean.. we dont got loads of skills, and got 2 more slots then guildwars, where they are counting over one thousand skills. You need to make risks with builds, not having all skills possible to activate. Would make it bad.. bad bad -------------------- LegendRunner - level 100 Ace something The Townstons Wiki Archive! - Boss of TT Dont Feed The Trolls! Cant say that I am surprised to hear another idea shot down, it wouldnt bother me so bad to deal with a smaller slotted bar if when i did change out skills i didnt have to wait for it to cool down even tho i didnt use said skill. A shorter cool down time for this would be nice but then i would get the same thing in a reply its fine the way it is shoot every thing is fine the way it is for that matter why ever change anything the quests seem fine to me why add more its just more work for some one to do right? or new items or adding in a mail system is even bad news as some one would have to work on adding it in. I must apologize for my behavior but everytime i see a post by legendrunner he never has any thing to say but negativity to any post i make its just downright frustrating. But hey for that matter I am sure all of you who are his friends jump on the band wagon with him i am sure. -------------------- " Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu...Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote!!!" Quote: Nice talking mate, Now let me explain it to you, so that yet another person knows the real story behind much of my posts. I find myself doing much for the community, I run a fansite, I help much low level people as well as people of my own range, give away 9 out of 10 rainbows I get. Am active at the forum and am a nice person IF you know me properly. The message behind the posts I make that you've seen so far (I think) is that there are posibility's and dreams, whishes and reality. Much things are or: 1. Implented in the game already, in some sort of way. 2. It makes the game too soft, par example: more skill slots as this thread says. 3. Is far way too odd, rare, useless or copied from other games, IMO like races, weather, flying things and well you can imagine. 4. And last but not least, the possibility's. The devs are hard working people, currently working for yet another patch that will bring another load of quests, weapons, and more content in overall. They cant make everything so you need to filter out the things you dont find suited for the game. You need to understand this is a MMORPG/MMO Hack and Slash. Far way not everything fits in the game, with that comes this is a game of originality IMO. I do IMO alot, it seems not often enough for you, still. I am a very nice person and just give my throughts, and lets face it, you only know me from the forums, and not even a serious long time. Next time, think or try to replace yourself to the person that you are flaming, and maybe.. maybe you just shush yourself, because it wont benefit anything. Quote: You posted a suggestion in a public forum. As such, you need to be prepared for comments, critical or not. Just because you think an idea has merit doesn't mean others will. Don't take it personally. In this case, the idea wasn't "shot down". After all, none of the replies were from NCSoft staff. Simply put, some of us feel that the current system is fine the way it is and attempted to explain why. |

I am part of a gaming clan for FPS games and have been for the last 2 years I have made tons of friends there and am Extremely easy to get along with!! As to flaming well i copied and pasted every single post of what i have suggested here and posted it on our gaming forum of which there is 217 members for just this one clan/guild for all fps games and so far of the 37 posts submitted it was thier consensus that you were the one being unreasonable. Now since they are all friends of mine this only means something to me and not you so i suggest that we put our differences behind us and start over like none of this happened since as you said i dont know you and obviuosly on the same note you dont know me. So flaming is all in the eyes of the beholder and those who are his friends right? Now as i stated earlier i am very easy to get along with and of the 20 or so friends i have made in game everyone of them knows i have been known to save and give them items that they may have been looking for in game so we are the same too in that regards. I think if you can drop the hostility as i intend to that maybe in time we could be friends too. I apparently blew some of my argument out of proportion i will admit but most of the ideas or suggestions i made were just that, I cannot take back now what i have said or done nor do i see a way to make amends other than to just try and start over. I didnt plan on sounding like i was an anarchist at all I just didnt understand why every idea i made was met with alot of resistance. For the most part i think the game is fine and certainly better than alot of other mmo's i have tried espcially for the money. Just a couple of thing i thought could use some improvement such as the skills that i slot when i change out bar taking time to cooldown first before i can use them. -------------------- " Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu...Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote!!!" about your post, father.. Skills just got a cooldown, no matter what, so also when you change your skills, simply because else you can cheat by putting other skills and directly use them. I agreed for a template system that can save template of skills, so that we dont need to put but simply can load. Still I am against more skills slots, you already did read that part. About friends, dont make me talk about that. When flaming, I will return a message, but keep the friends out, when you flame someone its you versus someone else, mind. I dont like you saying your whole 200 people agree with you that I am not right, they barely play this kind of games according the sentence you state your clan is an FPS clan. -------------------- LegendRunner - level 100 Ace something Come 'n visit sometime. hmm yes it is a fps clan but we all play other games too and some of them play DR as i invited them here because i enjoy this game very much. And i did state that point also maybe u missed it, that it was one persons side and friends tend to side with each other. As to being friends you and I have grouped a couple of times already and u didnt even know it til now, cause what happens here and what happens in game are 2 different things and i never confuse the two .I wont tell you who i am in game cause i see no need to take any disagreements we have into the game. As i have stated in a previous post we are there to have FUN! and thats the way i plan to keep it lol, however i can surmise by your comments that you have a bigger issue and cant seperate the forum issues from being in game or am i wrong? -------------------- " Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu...Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote!!!" My 2 cents: I consider any feedback both good and bad as a positive thing. If someone is willing to sit down and offer up suggestions or criticisms it means they care about the game. It also implies the feedback giver(s) are seeking the same goal as I am, which is to make the game better. If I receive NO feedback is when I start to get worried. ![]() -------------------- MarkT Lead Designer |

while it may seem to u that we (the community) and legend do not have the kind of positive feedback you would like, and while u claim to have hundreds of ppl that agree with u, and that those ppl dunt only play FPS's...some play DR, i see NONE of them posting here. the ppl that did post here didnt happen to agree with u this time around, 9 out of 10 times u will probably come up with an idea for the game and ppl will NOT agree. however one of the things that seperates this game from other mmo's is that the community does respond....as some 1 else said u should be happy with a response at all. and y? bc it shows we care enuff about the game we play. dunt take what u veiw as negative responses to heart, they are heart felt opinions of other ppl and what they see or dunt see in the game. as per ur idea, to elaborate on why i dunt think we need more slots, and why i think the cd's when u swap are nessasary.... more slots means more options for spells, more options means its harder to balance the game...the number of slots causes ppl to make decisions and tradeoffs which hlp keep things in chk. as for the cooldown when u swap, as some 1 else pointed out...if there was no cd when u swapped then u could make due with 1 slot as u could just change up skills whenever u felt like it, which would defeat the purpose of u haveing a limited number of slots. i personally would like to see slots locked for pvp matches (pve if u wana swap and wait is the individuals buisness), bc in pvp u should have to mix up ur skills to handle all possible situations, as opposed to tailoring ur slots based on who ur faceing. ur idea this time around was "shot down" bc it contridicts the dynamics of why those aspects are in the game. im not trying to detere u from suggesting and promoting ur ideas, i would recommned that u share them. however do not get upset when ppl disagree, instead try and explain what u mean, evolve ur idea based on what others say. thx for taking the time to read the above, ttyl |

I too wish there was just 1 more slot. That is my opinion. In my setup if I had 1 more slot to play around with I would add another passive. Not crucial but I'd use it and I'd like it. Thanks! |

You are correct if the cd was shorter or non existent you wouldnt need more slots, however the cd time all you have to do is wait before you go to where you planned to go then u could use it so that part makes sense and yet doesnt at the same time if you follow me? As to Legendrunners comment on starting the flame he is just as guilty of starting it as i am, there is an old saying that maybe you have heard that goes "It takes two to Tango" meaning that you cant tango by yourself lol -------------------- " Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu...Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote!!!" You made me quite lol by that comment, you say I am guilty as much as you are just because I said Quote: While others point out the same, I give a comment, because I dont find it a good idea, and you say I am guilty? Mate, it seems you dont understand that with criticism the world keeps existing. You need to face the comments you get when suggesting something, some people do and some people dont agree. So you give guilt to everyone that disagrees with anything? well well, its getting worse by the comment you make. -------------------- LegendRunner - level 100 Ace something Come 'n visit sometime.
