New Races
#36085 - 09/23/07 11:48 PM

I was wondering if new races were going to be added in at some point? I kind of like playing as other races as opposed to the generic human build.

My favorite has always been the rogue halfling or mage

Don't see anything like that happening, possibly but very much doughtful. New races really wouldn't add to new "game play" options, so most likely they will improve gameplay over extra added content. Not sure though

Seriously people need to understand the meaning of the SEARCH option.

Own opinion is wrote down there.
Most likely will not happen because Dungeon runners wont be the first one, and this is an original game. We barely copy things, with that comes there wouldnt be an advantage, and the WHOLE game needs to be changed for it.
By that I find it nonsense, I mean.. why again?
Think the response will be because its fun, my reaction on that would be that the devs have less fun making it, and so I have less fun.

Ok on the search I hadnt noticed it til u mentioned it so i wont make that mistake again! as to becoming a WoW clone i guess you had better stop any and all future changes as this will only make you what you desire to avoid!! adding a trading system or mail system or anything else will only put you one step closer.

I think you may want to consider a vacation as you seem to be over reacting to such minutia. I dont think adding a race will make DR a clone of anything except maybe only in ones mind. I always thought making a game better and giving players more option while they play was the basis of any game?

If you are this resistant to change then in time players will bore of the same ole same ole cookie cutter fashion of the game and will move onto greener pastures, of course all games have a time that they will pass into legend as someday even WoW will cease to exist in favor of something better.

I left WoW and came here because in my mind it is 10x the game WoW is or will be but as i said if you dont make changes things will become stagnant after a while and no one wants that.

extra races are not needed. Id prefer them to spend there time on more dungeons quest and things that fit in the DR mold of hacknslash.

ok obviously my POINT was totally missed. Add races or dont add races either way I dont care!!!!! My point was they are so afraid to become a WoW clone and it seems to me in alot of ways they already are. Anyone who has played WoW can see all of the similarities now in place.

I left WoW cause it wasnt living up to all the hype that others gave it and I still dont think its worth playing even now. After giving the idea some thought i would rather see more class options rather than races although they would be nice, but I am betting even on this subject there is a sense that adding new classes is a waste of time as well.

Given that this game is pretty much "classless" I would say adding more classes would be pointless. You can use any skills, of which many more will be added in the future, to make a character as you see fit. They do not restrict you to a specific class like many other games do.

Mind more then just the copy part, I find the Change whole game and loads of work for the devs part quite more intresting.
Well, as I cant walk away from it, nice flames. You practised them? Proud of you.

*Edit - Hmm.. Now I did mention the WoW clone, after that discussion folowing some reactions, I retreat, its just far from original. You are the one that needs the vacation, not Me.
