Having low frame rate issues?
#35814 - 09/18/07 11:55 PM |
We're looking into the recent reports of low FPS on certain hardware that seems to meet the minimum specs of the game. We're trying to reproduce the problem internally so that we can track it down. Thanks for reporting this! steve |

ummmmm... yes with a clause Virtual memory being low means that you don't have enough hard drive space allocated as "swap" to meet the requirements set by Windows. Usually this is 1.5 times your physical memory. In your case the hard drive requirement would be ~750Mb of space allocated to "swap". So, if you were to upgrade to 1Gb of physical memory then your system would require ~1.5Gb of hard drive space allocated as "swap". Granted... Windows would be using "swap" less but it still wants to have it. You can allocate less space if you have more memory though. But, having never done this I could not tell you what errors may come. -------------------- I was young and needed the experience points. Tet - Lvl 50something Fighter Loose - Lvl 30something Mage |

Well I have a GeForce 7300GT,1GB DRR2,P4 2GHz and i have 4fps in game. Count me in. I had like a ten foot long chat with the technical support but they did not seem to help me. The last thing they offered me was defragmentation of the hdd and reinstalling the game. I do not have time for that. And im sure that defragmentation is the last solution i would use. My pc runs smooth, just the game. The game uses 100% of my cpu. Boss guy if you need some pastings from the technical support or anything I will send them to ya. p.s. page file 2gb. 16gb free in hdd. 7200rpm hdd. reinstalling motherboard, video drivers did not help. AquaMark test runs on 60fps all the time. Submited hijackthis dxdiag lavalys everest logs. Disabled startup. No other process running and still a stinky 4fps. Thats why i had quit playing the game. Are you running XP, Vista and an x64 version of either of those? I'm running XP x64 and get good frame rates but I do know vista x64 is notorious for having [censored] frame rates in any game. If you haven't already try reinstalling XP if that's what you're using. Something along the way could of got screwed up. |

This is a pretty clean install. And I even shutdown Firefox and other programs, when launching DR -.- XP Pro. |

Ok - I've never had performance issues with this game on any of the three machines I've used. I just got done testing on my lowest performing machine and still had framerates between 20 and 30 depending what I was doing (except for casting Ring of Fire, which caused my FPS to drop, then spike back up). I ran through two levels of Algernon and through town. System specs: 1GB RAM 3 GHz P4 with Hyperthreading (not used in DR, to the best of my knowledge) Radeon X300 128MB (basically, the PCI-E version of a Radeon 9250) Graphics settings: 1024 X 768 Full Screen Yes Vertical Sync Yes AA 2X The game was perfectly playable with "decent" fps. After looking at my system specs, I started wondering what kind of graphics interface some of you have (those of you experiencing very low fps). Is your solution PCI, AGP or PCI-E? |
