Destroyed in PVP
#34542 - 09/05/07 02:34 PM

I suppose we needed more teamwork, but it seems to me that warriors have little chance... Mages snare + kite you around

Do I need to roll a mage?

I was playing with my Warrior (Scrapp)

I did PVP once for two rounds. I got pwnd. Man it was just ugly. The main thing that did it to me was a mage. So, I rolled one. Once I get her up to snuff I think I'll give it another try and see what happens.

Guess I should add in that I was using my fighter main. And take out the verb that got noted as censored.

Hide around corners.
Get a slow to use yourself.
Stuns/fears are also nice options.
Resistances to Fire/Ice.
Maybe bring one Mage friend to beat on them while you soak damage.

In a match consisting of me and two warriors of even level (say 75) Vs. 3 Mages of even level (again 75). I have an even opportunity to win this match.

Your a tank. Get resist gear. Put on your good passives (including the fear resist passive if you think they'll use it). Get all kinds of debuffs and debuff the crap out of them. Use the fastest 1handed weapons you can (perhaps even bring 1h swivel if you can spare the room). Resistance buffs are also good to have sometimes.

Its not gonna be easy but its completely doable. You run in swinging and debuffing (while trying to soak as much dmg as possible). Let a mage or ranger hybrid slow and burn/freeze/poison (whatever). This will force them to choose a target. If they turn from you then just wack them to death.

Always stick with your buddies. Seperation most likely brings death.

It can be done. Its early for PvP. I imagine it will evolve some more.

Nice C.Y.A. disclaimer. Without it you can leave yourself open to a possible flame war. From reading the PvP posts it can use some balancing.

lol it was mostly a joke when I put that thing in. I enjoy reading the posts here on PvP. Hearing about problems and situations people are having and then how others have faced those situations.

If we use it and then post suggestions we stand a good chance of getting it changed ya know. At least thats how it is often times around these parts.

I think we just need to work on team effort

Incidentally, one of us in the group had very high fire/ice/poison resists, but it didn't seem to help much (Stephen and a ranger were owning us bigtime). I'm still learning all the skills (for other classes) so that I know what resists to buff up to defend, and also trying to learn what skills would be best to bring in.

That brings up a question. I know you can train ANY skill, but if I don't have that class's passives loaded up, will the skill really help me much? For example, how much does my lack of INT hurt if using mage skills on a warrior?

You are never required to have or use passives as far as I know.

That being said its always wise to have them. As far as which ones you should bring is entirely up to what you plan on doing the most.

Gonna be casting alot ? You may need the spell damage and mana boosting passives.

Gonna be soaking up damage with HP and casting alot. Then bring the HP/Endu boosting passive.

It just depends on what will benefit you the most. Evaluate the skills you'll be bringing into PvP and then evaluate what skill points and abilities will help you maximize the power of those skills.

I did a pvp run (lvl 21 fighter) with another fighter (lvl 23?). The two of us vs a lvl 44 mage. I put every stun option I could on the bar and that is how we took him out. Stun. Stun again. Stun again. And then, stun him. Meanwhile my partner beat him to death with his weapon. It may have been called an 'Elongated Mushroom Stamper'. Maybe not...

I play a ranger so most my skills are for messin up my opponent and one thing that makes warriors a lot harder for me to kill is armor with faster run speed and holy roller. Should try using holy roller then somethin that can slow or stop em like ice bolt or butcher.
