why do we need such a good video card?
#33419 - 08/26/07 10:00 PM |
when i first launched dr i had a problem were my mouse would'nt move even if i disconnected it and used the labtops mouse pad,so customer support told me i need a better video card and the one that i need is pretty expensive,so why do we need a video card like that this doesnt look like a game that would need such a high requirements i mean i played games with way better graphics and it worked perfectly with this same computer,i was even able to play WoW with my video card,so why for this game i need to upgrade it to something i cant afford right now? is it just some crap to make the game look cool or a mistake or what? cant something ever change to let people with my time of video card play the game? btw i have Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller which is the same i used to play WoW guildwars and a whole bunch of other games, and i cant use it to play dungeon runners. |

I believe this goes back to the fact that DR was not born to be an MMO. It was initially bred to be an FPS of sorts and that died. Then it got picked up again and eventually became the game that we know and love today. BUT, the whole time it maintained the original game engine that controls what we see today. They can modify it easily enough to add stuff. But to change the engine itself... whole new ballgame. -------------------- I was young and needed the experience points. How can a game ENGINE like in Doom 3 need a better card than in Serious Sam? It's not what you are looking at... it's what drives what you are looking at. -------------------- I was young and needed the experience points. Tet - Lvl 50something Fighter Loose - Lvl 30something Mage |

Quote: Oo I'm playing DR in 1280x1024 with full option without any problems with a 5 years old computer with just a 7600 GS 256 AGP x8 I can't play LOTRO or WoW with full option with my computer... So the plain weirdness come from your comp not the game... oO |

/twitch... 1) I already answered you in another thread how you can play Dungeon Runners AND have the mouse move by simply entering into Windowed Mode (alt+enter) 2) Your graphics solution doesn't meet the minimum requirements for WoW, either: Quote: They're very similar to the Dungeon Runners Minimum Requirements: Quote: Please note, an integrated graphics chipset is NOT a "3D graphics card". That being said, there are a great number of players that are able to play Dungeon Runners perfectly fine (albeit with less "eye candy") with integrated chipsets by following the advice in point 1)... 3) Your statement Quote: is too broad. It's not like you could play any of those games on their highest graphical settings with your graphics solution. You may be able to play them (and, I reiterate, DR), but your settings and experience for each game may differ greatly. I have three different computers with which I play DR. My experience is different on all of them, ranging from the P4 3 GHz with the 129MB Radeon X300 (basically the PCI-E version of the Radeon 9250) to my P4 Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz with Nvidia Go 7900GS 256MB. 4) In general, integrated graphics SUCK for gaming, regardless of the marketing hype spewed forth by the companies producing or integrating the chipsets. Most games need dedicated graphics processing and memory. Period. |

There's a compatibility issue with that graphics hardware and how DR's color cursors work. The current workaround is to play in windowed mode. Simply hit ALT-Enter to enter windowed mode. We'll get our hands on that hardware and see what needs to happen to fix it. steve |
