There are 2 ways of doing an Archer/Mage. 1. Ranged Specialist 2. AoE Specialist As you want to use a shotgun and you will have a shorter range then I would go with AoE specialist. I would split the attribute points 2 Agility, 2 Intelligence, 1 Endurance. You will want Mental Prowess and either Average BMI and Couch Potato or Gym Freak and Bookworm. I would go with Gym Freak and Bookworm. So passives are: Mental Prowess - Mage Trainer Bookworm - Mage Trainer Gym Freak - Fighter Trainer Attack Skills you will want are: Shadow Lighting - Mage Trainer Ring of Fire - Mage Trainer Noxious Shot - Ranger Trainer Gaseous Blast - Ranger Trainer I would also get: Trigger Finger Frenzy - Ranger Trainer Toxic Talent - Ranger Trainer Appropriate Resistance Buff for enemies you are fighting. As for equipment you will want a mix of +Agi, +Int and +End. I would get a Mage chest peice with +End and +Int, Ranger Gloves, Boots and Helm with +Agi. I would choose a Mage as the inital class as you will get 3 of the skills you will want free. -------------------- Flydd, semi retired mage currently at the long dark teatime of the retirement castle |

Quote: Why is it "non-effective"? With both bookworm and gym freak in your hotbar you get a net +75% mana per INT and a net +25% HP per END, with no net loss in any attribute? Seems like a good deal to me, especially at higher levels. -------------------- CaptJack, Lvl 45 Shadow Merc. |

Hmm,and what about fighting?I will have less agility and intelligence then if making only mage or ranger,so attack will be not so powerfull |

The measly loss in int or agi is unimportant. With bookworm and gym freak you can fight for longer than without. If you dont want them then fine but you will have either rubbish mana, health or both. You are trading a tiny boost of damage for a massive loss in HP and MP and gold as you will be using lots and lots of pots. -------------------- Flydd, semi retired mage currently at the long dark teatime of the retirement castle |

Quote: Dagerman: I don't have my character in front of me, but I run a "venom mercenary"--basically a ranger with stats evenly split between AGI and INT. I've got the bookworm, gym freak, and trigger happy passives loaded. I use shadow lightning and poison shot on my left and right buttons, and gaseous blast, ring of fire, dark wizardry, and the relevant ward loaded in my hot bar. As I said, I don't have my stats in front of me, but I can target a hero or champion with my ranged attack, and by the time he's dead, my shadow lighting and AoE attacks have wiped out the fodder mobs. I am definitely chewing through mobs faster than I did as a pure AGI ranger. -------------------- CaptJack, Lvl 45 Shadow Merc. |

If you want a single target damage go for a ranger. If you want AoE damage then go for either a shadow mage or a mage with mixed skills. My current skill list is: Shadow Lightning - LMB Gaseous Blast Ring of Fire Divine Ward Shadow Ward Improved Shadow Lightning Gym Freak Bookworm Mental Prowess Ice Shards - RMB I use this to level at the moment. Currently avergaing 10000 - 20000 xp per hour in the Demonic Crypts. -------------------- Flydd, semi retired mage currently at the long dark teatime of the retirement castle |

The problem with focusing on a single set of elemental skills is that you will run into mobs and bosses that are immune or resistant to those elements. You need some diversity so you can switch to a different element when you run into those mobs. E.g., a pure ice mage won't do well against Algor, so you need to have other elemental skills at least as backup. -------------------- CaptJack, Lvl 45 Shadow Merc. |
