Def rating?
#30626 - 07/27/07 04:27 PM |
Im trying to figure out how my def rating functions in terms of the chance of being hit. Im horrible at math, so I don't even have a basic equation to work with. Basically, Im looking to keep my def to the point that I can nominally ignore endurance and focus on str, int, and agi, so Im trying to figure out where I need to get that def stat. |

Quote: We don't really have any way to get data on this at present. Too much of the formula is hidden. Basically, you'll have to feel it out or test a bit with different gear, and maybe do some manual parsing. Quote: I haven't noticed that defense ever gets that high. I imagine you might be able to get something like that if you had pure STR rainbow gear and a shield, but I don't think that's feasible, or even possible. Defense increases your mitigation, but endurance increases your healing efficiency. You'll probably never get to the point where you're able to mitigate 100% of the damage you take in. Even if you mitigate most of it, or don't need to heal on groups, bosses will require heal pots. In those cases, having extra endurance can get you more bang for your buck as far as pots go. If we did have formulas on attack rating we'd be able to calculate the sweetspot for endurance and defense for optimal pot usage. As it stands, though, you'll just have to experiment a bit and see what works best for you. If you're serious about mitigation, you'll want to find yourself a high-%-block shield, because that'll give you raw physical mitigation at that percentage. Keep in mind, though, that defense and blocking don't save you from elemental damage, so on bosses like Vergrim, you're better off with lots of endurance. |

Aramynthia is absolutely correct. I have theorized about the tohit equation but all it is is guess work and as we dont know the enemy attack ratings we cant actually work the tohit equation out. Your best bet is to split str and agi evenly and endurance and int evenly. So every two levels you have 3 str, 3 agi, 2 end, 2 int. -------------------- Flydd, semi retired mage currently at the long dark teatime of the retirement castle |
