I had an idea like this and you pretty much hit the nail on the head. This IS the best alternative to an "auction house". Because an auction house means your technically placing GOLD or another type of currency on items. This would be Item trading, which is what the games about. I agree with just about everything you said but I don't agree with the name you gave it. Something else would be nice. -------------------- |Dungeon Runner BoltofDeath| Level 100 Fighter World 2 Sup Dazz & Nonexx :P!?!?!? Edited by BoltofDeatH (09/13/07 02:24 PM) |

Quote: But, but, but it has standard gamer speak ("Teh"), is an homage to the Better Business Bureau and is funny!!!! You make Ripper sad ![]() All joking aside, thanks for your comments. Of course, the devs could call it whatever they wanted (as long as Ripper or Ripper's is somewhere in the title ) |

An auction is just an extended form of trading.. Like if someone put up a weapon to sell, then someone says "I'll trade you these weapons for that".. The only difference is there is a auctioneer and a time limit, and the one trading the weapon has to waste more time on the transaction.. Remember people are quickly advancing in rank, and if it takes a week to auction an item off, by that time the item will be worthless to much of the people bidding on it, unless those bidding on it were lower in rank. Best just to do a one-to-one trade, that way less tension and time is wasted on the transaction.. Also to handle auctions requires more programming than to handle trades. |

Secure trade first. Auction house? Perhaps next year. I love the idea of bartering... tons of fun! steve |

Secure trading system itself will solve the item economy issues. The only Disadvantage I could see in a barterhouse is the possible exploitation of the barterhouse as a means to have extra storage space, unless... the posting of items didn't=freeing up a persons storage space in the process. I know having a bit more storage space or a means to accquire more would be a big +++. Maybe build into the secure trade system later something that acts like a pausable/post-able type of trade system that you could put/post your item at, but without the means to use as a temporary bank for extra storage. Isn't the idea presented here basically only suggesting a more sophisticated trade system than just secure trade? |
