Nubcakes` questions
#29387 - 07/17/07 04:40 AM |
i still havent started playing Dungeon Runners, downloaded the game 5 mins ago. what i wanted to ask is - what`s the best skill distribution for a mage who wants to level fast? full int? or some whacky hybrid stuff? what build has worked for you? oh, and while at it... could you share the wisdom on good spots to grind, what skills to use, and additional bla bla bla, that has helped? thanks a lot in advance, hope these answers will be usefull to more ppl than just me ![]() -------------------- If there is NO spoon, there is NO soup! Welcome! . Hmmm I think you should play the game first. Its different from others. I say so because you say something like "best place to grind" and such. Now im not saying there is no best place, but for example: The instances (think guild wars, only the town and bases, are areas every player comes and everything else is instances where you are alone or with your group), the instances will adapt to your lvl, if withing range. A dungeon is for example 3-20 and if you are higher, mobs are lvl 20 and if you are lower they will be lvl 3. NO you do not get xp for killing higher lvl mobs than yourself. That was just an example for the diffence from other games. One thing I will say to you: Im a mage and I use 3 in INT and 2 in END, works fine for me, Some use pure INT, works for them too I guess. When you get higher in lvl you will get most of your statpoints from items anyway. PLUS you can at all times redistribute you stats, for a fee of gold though (cheap). Play the game, and come back, search the forum... Tons of good info here :-). And please ask! This was not meant as for you to stop asking questions...not at all .-------------------- IGN: Tiqon (thats a q not a g!) I WILL answer your questions online if: - You dont talk offensive. - I know the answer. - My wife lets me. "Concentrate on the mobs dear!" |

oh, and another question - how long does it take to level? (from 1-20, 20-50, 50-100) Is DR kind of a hardcore player game, or noobie friendly? -------------------- If there is NO spoon, there is NO soup! |

Quote: It's hack and slash game - no hack and slash games are that complicated. Just try it! It's plenty noobie friendly - the game controls and whole game setup are very well done. The UI gives you plenty of tooltip help. Even though general chat is often full of mostly morons it's pretty safe to ask questions if you're new - people will answer them without hazing you. You can alter the difficulty level at any time to suit your desires (low diff for fast leveling, high diff for more loot). (I recommend doing the noob areas on insane diff since the mobs there couldn't kill you unless you begged them to - you'll get tons more gold and better loot to be ready for the real dungeon(s) at town). The game ultimately isn't that complicated and it's very forgiving in terms of flexability respec - just go for it. |

Eldritch did in in 6 days for the record And it's total online time (viewed via the /played command).Anyawy, this game is heavily geard toward casual players and thus, very easy/fast to level. As for leveling up fast, when you hit level 40+ you can begin AoE grinding in Demonic Crypts, off of Shadow's Embrace 1. Gaseous Blast is the way to go. First few levels to learn the game I'd suggest playing a fighter though. -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

Quote: Drinor (ranger) has achieved 4 days 9 hours ftw. I'm tempted to reroll just to beat him! :P Quote: The game in general is mad easy, if you're looking to cap out fastest, check out Drinor's post in player guides 'AoE grinding without a mage'. I'd say thats your best bet, if you have no problems with playing a ranger (you can respec to anyclass at anytime) -------------------- Level 100 Noob. Edited by Eldritch (07/18/07 12:33 AM) |

Quote: This is very true, I was having lag issues and got kicked out a few times last night, and I was sitting there getting eaten for like 4 min and still didn't die. Went from LVL 1 (Starting) to LVL 6 in like 3 hours while watching TV, cooking and the lag. I could have easily done LVL 10 in that time. I am hoping for up to 10-11 tonight since I will only get to play about 2 hours. As for chat, if you ask something in world /w MSG you will usually get 1-2 quality responses! This game is great for the casual player etc. On the subject of dif setting. I set it to Insane in the first dungeon, and have almost all Blue items that are good enough to take me on to the next dungeon and a couple Yellow items as well. Talk about making it tempting to pay to wear the gear! :/ I am sure that eventually I will pay the 5.00 a month, cause I am going to want the bank, and wear some kikazz gear! |

I've been reading through and have not yet seen an answer to this one: Is a mage spell a ranged attack and thus suseptable to range bonuses and agility bonus? |

The to hit for a mage is based on the mobs resistance and nothing to do with agi or str. -------------------- JoeB - Level 100 - Confused about my professional orientation - FINALLY Mearlin - Level 29 - Mage |

No, ranged bonuses and agility do NOT apply to mages ranged attacks. (Believe me, I used to be a L100 mage with 1 agility, and hit all the time.) The case of frequent missing is when you fight mobs 5 levels above you (only applies to mages). -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

from lvl 60 to 100 pure int mage... had 1k+ int at lvl 98+ Shadow lightening didn't miss a single thing in Demonic Crypts for those 40 lvls. I think I may have had double digits in the agi and str departments but not by a whole lot. Gary -------------------- Bogey ~ Lvl You Win and a Warrior again!!! We are all one race....
