So I thought I'd try out this famous HDoL...
#28690 - 07/12/07 04:58 PM

Didn't feel like doing a quest so before I logged off today I thought I'd try out HDoL and see how tough it really is.

I'm playing on Formidable and haven't had too much trouble with the game (was doing Insane for a bit but man, it got expensive buying potions all the time..hehe)

I waltz into HDoL all cocky and ready to rock and just around the corner from the entrance portal is a boss pack with 3-4 champion/hero/bosses (can't really tell the difference, all I know is that they had aura's around them). I dump Turkey Bait and start firing away. Took down maybe 1 baddie then they all turned on me. Next thing I know I'm surrounded and fighting for my life. I'm chugging health potions here and there and trying to cast some AoE spells to give me breathing room. Alas, my wound were great and I couldn't heal fast enough. I tried to run to the portal because I could see it just around the corner but they kept hammering me...circling around like a shark after a wounded fish...I fired some more rounds off my shotgun and it was like they were useless.

Death came all to swiftly. Darkness enveloped my corpse. The mob stopped attacking. Before I spawned out I looked at the bosses faces and their evil grins are now forever burned into my mind.

Can't wait for more. Revenge will come. Oh sweet revenge.

Play DHoL on normal to start. Anything else at lower levels is just asking for a trip to the graveyard.

LOL. The way you described this just made my day!. Thank you!. Wery well and entertaining written .

When me and my wife first tried it out. (players teaming up in this game makes it alot easier I have experienced). We were around your lvl. Man were we in for a suprise, I kinda woke up when the first fight started up.

While we do not have the surviving-problems you have (mage and warrior together is apparently a good strategy, oh and we have only tried it on normal), we have to keep focused when in HDOL. We use it to get a change of pace from time to time.

Retired. But that does not mean you can keep me away from the community now and again....

Throw the gun away and get a bow unless it is a very very very fast gun

Very very very fast gun (as in popper) aint better than a xbow. Except for the coolness factor.

Thanks for the compliments. I did switch my settings to normal and HDoL is quite a bit easier. I was able to solo a few mobs yesterday doing so (with a Xbow and no gun this time).

It is a nice change of pace from going through the other dungeons.
