* There aren't any penalties - never have been

* Any player lower in level than the group leader will always get exp, but the experience gained by the lowbie is at the lowbie player's level.

* Any player >= six levels above the group leader will not get any experience and will fewer loot drops. This isn't a penalty. The same thing would happen if you soloed a dungeon with a max level >= six levels below you...

* The reason more xp was gained in HDoL is because there are several heroes/champs per group of mobs. These give much more xp than regular mobs in dungeons like Vergrim's Vexation. You can still be PL'd there, as Bioc pointed out. The difference is that Bioc didn't get as much XP as he would have prior to build 82 and that he has to be near the action instead of camping at the entrance.

* Stephen's not against power leveling, per se. Here's a quote from him:

I'm not against power leveling... although it's weak that we give monster kill credit to players far from the action. That's gotta stop.

As you can see, this was in another thread. He did listen to what players wanted (and there have been many examples of this). You can still power game, you can still be power leveled, but--as a good business decision--it has been curtailed to avoid having too many players burn through the existing content too fast. He has to balance what the players want with feasability and long-term playability and he has to mitigate risk to the revenue model.

I'm amazed to see people post that power leveling has been stopped. Let's see if I can change your minds...

Let me give you my definition of "power leveling" before going any further. Power leveling is the ability to have a higher-level player help you get XP much faster than you would get by yourself.

There are at least two ways to "power level" in Dungeon Runners:

1. Group up with a higher-level friend and go with them to a higher-level dungeon. Higher level dungeons have more monsters per encounter. If you are far below your friend's level then the rate at which your friend can kill them will not be affected by you. Viola! More XP than you can get for yourself. Of course, it's very hard for a vastly lower-level player to stay alive in a high-level dungeon. And with the new XP distance requirements, you can't get XP by just sitting at the dungeon entrance.

2. Group up with a higher-level friend and have them go to a dungeon that is your level. The monsters get tougher, but not tough enough to stop your high-level friend from slaughtering them all with little issue. Your friend won't get much loot or any XP, but you will get full credit for the kills.

We removed the XP bonus for killing higher level monsters and added a distance check for XP awards because we wanted to curb option 1.

In any case, I'm definitely interested in hearing arguments in favor of power-leveling. Perhaps there's another way to give you what you're looking for.

Stephen said he don't like trading and don't like power leveling.... he fixed power leveling

Now, now, I never said I don't like trading. I just don't like trading gold. It creates an economy that is unfriendly to casual play in my opinion. Inflation, economic balance issues and endless grinding to afford items... bleh. Our "goldless economy" encourages gift-giving, which I think is a very tangible difference between our game and the competition. I wonder how many of you have received sweet rare items as a gift from other players. Man, you don't see that in many other games.

We will definitely give you secure item trading options in the near future so that item theft when drop-trading is a non-issue.

I also said that I don't mind power leveling, I just don't want the cheesy form of it.

I dont like PL, to me its just as bad as people using programs to get what they want. What is the point really? Its a game, to gain something, what would that accomplish? Nothing but just getting to a higher level much faster. Yeah, I hate doing things all over again, but its part of the game, so why not just level yourself, there IS a difficulty option now.
