There are none that I know of. What you might have seen was screen shots from beta which had different looking screens and such. |

i really wouldn't mind addons, if you don't like them just don't use them, place limits of course, i doubt there would be the community to support the addon programming like there is with wow but the option would be nice to have there. |

More than anything, addons allow the Devs to: a) See what we would actually like as interface and tools. Something to show Mob levels, a counter on your pots etc etc could eaisly be developed by a playar. b) Free up the devs to develop new content, rather than consistently updateing/editing the ui. However, it does open up an entire new area for bugs, so has its downfalls. |

if they allow ui design changes and clientside mods it should only affect the local user and not the server so i may be wrong but i wouldn't think it would affect the server. |

Modular interfaces are nice. I'd very much like to be able to mod the UI. If the system hasn't been designed with that in mind, however, it could be very difficult to implement. As was mentioned, those of you who don't like the idea don't have to use them. They'd be there as options for people who do. I really don't know why ya'll are so hostile to the idea. :P |

Quote: Eh, I wouldn't say that WoW sucks, but it IS amusing to watch the haters. I would agree that SOME so-called addons suck in WoW - any so-called interface enhancement that plays the game for you should never be allowed, but I don't see how true UI enhancements, like UI mods that show data differently or present data differently hurt anything. Anyways - DR is too simplistic to need any type of addons. The default UI is completely sufficient for what you can do in the game and if you have any desire to automate something as simple as DR you should probably just stick to watching TV. |

If you do allow custom UI's etc it wont take people long to come up with mods that allow them to quickly swap skills in and out of there cast bars while mid fight, as well as gear when necessary. Might take away from the setting up your char a bit. |

Quote: Isn't that what this forum is for? (At least that's what it SHOULD be for). I would sure hope that the developers would read how many people would abhor or adore something, and develop accordingly (but we all know the key word there is 'hope'). Quote: As new stuff is implemented I can only assume new things might have to be added to the ui to accommodate those changes (as an aspiring programmer myself, I cannot see why something so subject to revision like a ui would be designed in a way making it hard to edit). With these ideas in mind, I will say again that I would hope that if we, the gaming community, wanted something changed badly enough, the developers would place those community wants before their own developmental plans. -------------------- "Reason, gentlemen, is a fine thing, that is unquestionable, but reason is only reason and satisfies only man's reasoning capacity, while wanting is a manifestation of the whole of life" ~Notes From Underground |

Had you actually looked around here before making such a blind comment about hoping the devs actually read these forums you would be surprised to find out that not only to they read these forums and comment back to us on suggestions but they also play the game along side of us. It is not a rare occurrence to have a dev pop into a world for playtime. This is as much a fun game for them as it is for us. So, yes, they do read these forums. And yes, they do listen to our suggestions. And yes, they do comment back to us on them and some are implemented. -------------------- I was young and needed the experience points. Quote:Ignorant as I may very well be, my point is still very much valid. What I HAVE noticed is that the majority of people on these forums, for the most part, agree on what should be implemented/ changed (I see Silicia has made a great thread detailing some more requested features for instance). My opinion still holds that in an environment such as this, where people aren't afraid to make their wishes known, and the developers are sincerely dedicated to making those wishes come true, there is really little need for addons, given the aforementioned negatives of having addon support. And I apologize for being so presumptuous and hasty. Following my previous post (my first) I browsed through many other threads and saw that the developers DO care about their fans. This is just another reason why I'm beginning to Love this game so much -------------------- "Reason, gentlemen, is a fine thing, that is unquestionable, but reason is only reason and satisfies only man's reasoning capacity, while wanting is a manifestation of the whole of life" ~Notes From Underground |

The only addon I would like is a dungeon runners version of hero stats. For those of you who havent played CoH Herostats is a program that records monster kills, damage done, damage taken, gold collected, xp earned, and so on. For me this would be great as it would mean stats can be gotten easily and I can play around with more equations ![]() -------------------- Flydd, semi retired mage currently at the long dark teatime of the retirement castle |

The best stats program for WoW was recap. Super nice. There're plenty of other nifty things you could do with UI addons, though, like add in-game maps, enhanced communication features, etc. |

I think one reason ui mods havent been ntroduced yet is right now the game isnt serious enough to bother and the fact that right now having a larger/mroe skill trays would horribly ruin the game as part f the balance si that my mage cant fit all his spells into my skill bar..... if i could the gane woudl be no challenge i wouldnt have to wait for cooldowns etc.. if i may add my input here with the inclusion of guilds ( next patch planned) i think they game may pick up a new seriousness, maybe once guilds come out, threy include harder very difficulty dungeons and such uis may be more useful or wanted but right now? i dont think so |

Our UI system was not engineered to easily allow customizable interfaces. It's actually not even all that easy for us to make changes to the UI. Ha! It is a pretty boneheaded system that we've inherited. It would require a lot of work to make it right. So for now, we are making do. What does this mean to you? No customizable UI. Guild support is currently being developed. That update will most likely happen sometime in the not too distant future (how do you like that general edit? ). The initial launch of the guild system probably won't include any specific guild dungeons because we are still working on fleshing out the regular PvE and PvP dungeons. That does not rule out cool guild dungeons for future updates though. ![]() We do plan to have another content update (after Chunk# 1) in about two weeks. That will include a lot of new weapons, armor, new quests, and maybe some skills. Edited by MarkT (08/27/07 04:06 PM) |
