2h staff image
#27121 - 07/03/07 06:29 PM |
Picked this one up in a Snow Chief run. More for a Shadowknight(caster with good armor ) type build if that what your going for. I suggest if you do a SK build get a GOOD chest piece for warrior and everything else +int. This really helps if your doing solo INSANE! runs and also you survive a little longer in boss runs.[image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v12/slimdean19/kewlstaff.jpg[/image] -------------------- FireX |

Currently using a 2-h staff that got me away from my 2-1h's as it had 43% reflect for both melee ad ranged, +20sumthing agi/int and a bonus to shadow damage. I use it over one that was +85int (in 40's) since the reflect is my bread and butter and the +int didn't have any damage bonuses just a +108 shadow resist. My only question about staffs is why is it a 2-hand staff if it's only carried in one hand and none of the animations ever have you grasping it in 2, unlike many other 2-handed weapons..... -------------------- The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!', but 'That's funny ...' you bring up a good point. but one hand in the game disperse the magic effect. Too bad they can't make both hands on staff while the tip of staff disperses effect. -------------------- FireX |

There is NO way I would trade my 1h+shield for either two 1h or a 2h-staff. The 2h staff cant compete with the buffs from two separate items, and two 1h staffs cant compete with the stats on a shield. As BEST a 1h staff can get almost the same as a shield, only it doesnt add block chance as well. They need to increase the +% dmg on 2h-staffs to make them useful or competetive. Shields can hold both high +% elemental, +elemental, +Int at once. Then add a 1h staff to that which atleast holds low +% elemental, +elementa, +Int. Pure stat wise, they are the same, but shield+1h gets higher +%, and at higher levels, the percent is way more useful than +dmg/int. -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

I beg to differ. While I have only had purple weapons since way out leveling my axiom, my 2-h staff has the same (though 2pts higher attribute buffs) bonuses as my 2-1h weapons did. Where the big difference comes into play is if you are a combat mage, for you then loose 2 ludicrous weapons attacking for the one (in my case slothful) weapon. But all I did was move some stats around and now with my shadow lighting doing nearly 2500 (yes I know many are better) I actually perform better in game both solo and as a support mage than I did when a melee munchkin. I do believe it's all a matter of personal choice for I'd be willing to bet there are 2h staves out there that would compete with most any dual wield 1h or 1h and shield bonuses. ne thing that has impressed me with this game is the relative balance between all 3 weapon setups. I've seen lvl 100's use bows, 2h and dual wield 1h weaponry, plus one was reporting about their 1h and shied style, which means there isn't ONE superior style or bonus. -------------------- The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!', but 'That's funny ...' But there are however, superior equipment for certain builds. For a shadow mage, you get more damage with a shield+1h than a 2h staff. In theory that is. You never know what will drop ![]() -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

Truely, I have to wonder what the stats would be like on a mythic drop version of a 2h staff, might be good, but til that is seen I agree with Jinxed, can get more stat mod from 2 1h items than the yellow or purple 2h staves, at least the ones I've seen so far. -------------------- Rakehell-100 Ace Touchy Pirate-High World Drifter Kill 'em all, let the dirt sort 'em out. ![]() |
