I read about those in the page, but haven't seen one.

Basically, you visit the library in Townston. But you need a library card to check out the skill books, which can only be obtained by completing the library card quest that Audrey gives you.
That quest is where you have to kill 32 Whisker Shamans and bring their whiskers back to her. She uses them as candle filaments, and she'll give you a library card in exchange for completing the quest.

Once you've done that, you can take your card to the library and check out all the skill books you want!
If you don't return them in time there's a ten Kings Coin fine for every day they're overdue, though.
Checking out the skill videos is even more expensive when you bring them in late, so be careful with that.

If you can't pay for an overdue book fine the commander of Townston will take all your gear and burn it in front of everyone else in the town, then cut your head off with his purple sword - and you'll have rez sickness for the rest of your life on that character's account.
No mere three minute penalty for you people that don't return skill books on time! For as long as you continue playing with that character!

That's why most people don't buy skill books and why they don't even talk about the library, because it's dangerous to check out the books and videos there.
NCSoft won't tell you about it either, because they lose customers when people get annoyed about the eternal rez sickness.

To get skill books though, they are random drop, I have only gotten 2. otherwise you can just buy the spell to save the trouble.

u can find them as loot. i believe thay are all members onlyu items though so they are at leats yellow, ive played for a while and only found a couple though so its kind of rare loot if you need a skill its much faster and easier to jsut buy it.

im not sure if i would call them rare, they are much mroe common then rainbows at leats with my character i havent counted but id put mine around 14 and im only lvl 33 right now.

differs msot likely i find them pretty useless besides saving me gold which i alredy have mroe thne i need.

alot depends on how many skills you already have...I ahve all the skills so my chances are higher.I usually have several at a time and have had almsot 30 aready at level 85...they are in their way as good as rainbows.......most skills cost alot the best so far i got from a book was extra crispy monster bait at the time worth 138k not bad for a trasre

I don't think that what skills you have has an impact on the chances of receiving a book. As of my last positing in this thread I have received 2 more books. Out of all of the books I have received so far, 2 of them were for skills that I didn't even have!

And I used the term Rare Loot to describe the books since their name comes up yellow/gold - and under the loot list, this color is termed as Rare.

I agree with the loot color.....and you may be right..seems I get books when others get rainbows..............another thing about books you can hve two of the same skill.use one and the other automatically resets to the next upgrade point

This is why if you get a skill book for a low level it is better to upgrade the skill some before using it. Allows you to save more money for the higher level skills.

I'm lvl 29 now, and i have seen only one book, but i have found 3 rainbows.

For some people books can be more rare than rainbows. I dont think the drop rates of books have ever been put out by the devs. So depending on your play style, ie boss farming, you may have a better chance of getting a rainbow than a book. To me they are more valuable b/c they can be worth several 100K for certain skills at high level.

I'v gotten 1 skill book and no rainbows. Level 14.

idk i think money comes easily enuff that im not worried about skill books, id rather get a rb item. ive found myself with enuff extra money that i have started to buy skills i will probably never use just so i have them

i have probably found an equal number of books as rb's so id assume the chances are pretty close at either, but may vary person to person
