PTS 79 and 81 Full Screen Problem
#26220 - 06/28/07 11:42 PM |
I cannot run either of the latest two PTS builds in full-screen mode. Works fine windowed. Full screen flashes solid white to solid black repeatedly. Have the latest Video Drivers. Have not updated to Direct X June release yet as the server is having issues. My regular DR works fine full screen. Any ideas?? REALLY hope to find a fix BEFORE this build goes live. |

Please provide use with your system specifications, especially your Operating System and Video card, and we will look into the situation. Thank you, Kit -------------------- "Making games better one bug at a time..." |

Can you also provide me with the screen resolution you are running at? Also, please try going into Options->Graphics and click on Auto-detect. See if the setting that the game chooses for you fixes your issue. Thank you, Kit -------------------- "Making games better one bug at a time..." |

This sounds to me like our auto-detect system picked a screen resolution that your monitor can't support. Are you sure that you have proper drivers for your monitor? If you don't have proper monitor drivers then DirectX may get confused and list a resolution that cannot be supported by your monitor. When we change to that resolution, you'd see lots of potentially crazy stuff depending on how your monitor handles it (black & white flashing is possible). A workaround would be to change to windowed mode and pick a safe full screen resolution from the option screen. steve |

Thanks Stephen and Kit!! I have an old non-pnp monitor and auto detect indeed picked a resolution it did not like. Seems XP, as opposed to earlier Windows OS versions, just picked arbitrary resolutions for the "generic monitor" instead of letting me choose. The game's AutoDetect works fine - it picked a resolution that Windows said was OK.. Too bad XP lied! Anyway, selected resolution (1024x768) manually and now works fine full screen. I will have to ask the wife if this qualifies as a good excuse to upgrade my monitor... NAW... will never work! Thanks for all the help!! |

My problem is the opposite. I cannot run any of the PTS versions in windowed mode. The only fix I had was uninstalling and reinstalling. Sometimes this happens on the live servers too...rather annoying. I too have all the updated drivers. 256 mb 7800 GTX here coupled with an AMD 64 3200+ and 1 gig ddr. I run the game at 1600 x 1200 with max settings. |

On my wife's pc I could only run in windowed mode initially. Tried to auto detect screen res and it chopped everythin up for me. Manually setting it to a res that worked on her's fixed it, I just had to find one that worked:) she has a 15.4" widescreen ummmm just looked and there is a driver update from 06/27 Radeon X300 SE 256mb PCI-E card will see if this fixes auto-detect once it loads... Gary EDIT new drivers did not fix...still chops everything up and scrambles it. System Specs: Emachines 3118 XP Home SP2 (updated) AMD Sempron 3100+ 768MB RAM (PC2700) Radeon X300 256MB PCI-E (updated) Hard Drive: Maxtor 6L040J2 (30.7GB free) Sound: Realtek AC97 Audio (updated) DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Only thing I could not find was drivers for the LCD monitor Synaps <Goldstar?> 15.4" widescreen 1280x800 natural res model MT5WBP Edited by bogey (06/29/07 09:58 PM) |
