Hi everyone :) Here is a little guide on leveling fast in Embercore 3, one of the best place to level in the game.I'm rather surprised that there has not been a lot of attention on the boards for it, especially since it had been some kind of public secret that its a great place for mages to level themselves at an incredible speed. Thats why i made a little guide about Embercore 3. Its not nearly as complete as i wished it would be, but it should be enough to give you a good idea of what leveling there is like. Now, without further ado i present: [u]The Little Embercore 3 Leveling Guide:[u] Where is Embercore 3 exactly? Embercore 3 is the third level of the Embercore dungeon. The Embercore Dungeon is the second last dungeon in the game. As of such, you wont be able to level here till the mid high levels(40+). If you want to know where it is exactly, have a look at the beautiful map (http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/6056/drmap7501di6.jpg) ShamblingCat made. Embercore 3 is a small, narrow dungeon where the mob groups are packed really close to each other. This makes it the ideal place to pull a lot of them, and then kill them at all the same time. But before we get into HOW to kill them, lets first have a look at WHAT we are going to kill. The Enemies: [note: I cant remember most names, so this is not the name the mobs have in game] [u]Little fire rats[u]: Very small red rats, that give about 2 XP each. They appear in groups of about 30, and are incredibly easy to kill [u]Spitter[u]: They look like small walking gas tanks. They might look weak, but they pack a LOT of punch if your hit. If you get two groups of them on you during a pull, your sure to spend at least a few HP pots. [u]Thornlash[u]: Huge creatures with blades instead of arms. They are quite slow attackers, and are about average on damage [u]Wraiths[u]: Hovering enemies that attacks with lightning. In groups they can do some nice damage on you, but alone they are fairly weak. They have low HP. [u]Scorcerers[u]: Human-like mobs that trow fireballs at you. They do some samage, but its nothing serious. They have VERY low HP. How to pull a group of them If you want to get a nice amount of XP, you have to pull several groups at the same time. I'm myself pulling anywhere between 6 and 14 groups in each pull, but you might have to adjust that number a little bit if you take to much damage, or find it to easy. Just start running, and try to get a group of mobs on your tail. If they follow you, just run to the next group, get that one on your tail and so on. Once you have a decent amount run back against the stream a bit. This will make the mobs to run back along with you, which will pack them in a relatively small area. Once you are about in the middle of the steam, stand still and let the mobs gather around you. Just let them attack you while you wait, as you dont want to waste using AoE attacks just yet. If you think you have a nice amount around you use Dark Wizardry to give you that little bit of extra shadow damage. Then start of the real fight with a Gaseous Blast. This will affect every mob in the area, and is very effective to kill of the small fire rats(1 blast is enough to kill them). When you used it, release a fire ring, so that another 12 mobs become damaged. Just keep firing shadow lightning now, alternated with gas blast and fire ring as soon as they are recharged. Keep doing this till the mobs are killed, loot, reset the dungeon, sell your stuff and return :) Some tips: You might notice that your HP will drop very fast while doing this. Its always wise to carry at least 20 Health Potions to make sure you stay alive. If your a member, its a good idea to drink 2-3 at the same time while taking damage, since at times damage simply outmatches the healing effect the potions have(Member potions effects stack, causing faster regen) Always beware of spitters! In groups they will deal the most damage of all the mobs, yet their ranged attacks will place them the furthest away of the action. If you have 20 of these firing on you, you might just as well keep holding the spacebar, since the damage will be major. In short: Its a good idea to deal with these first. Rewards: The rewards of this tactic are high. Individual pulls are between 500-1400 XP, depending on the amount of mobs pulled. Since the entire dungeon wont take more then 5 minutes or so, you can get at least 6.000 XP an hour while farming here. For me it spiked to 11.000 XP an hour once, since i didnt sell in between. The loots you will get wont be great. Its mostly a yellow, green and blue mix, that will only just cover your potion cost, so its not a great place to get rich. However, the XP gains are what i would call really nice! :) Here is a screenshot of what a fight will look like: Embercore 3 (http://img516.imageshack.us/img516/4857/embercore3qi4.png) Hope this helps a bit, and good luck leveling there my fellow mages! ~Silicia |

Quote:Well, reading the forums a lot, talking a lot inside the game, and just trying everything i can think of inside the game myself. Or in this case: having plain luck. I found out about Embercore 3's leveling speed when i messed up and got 4 groups on my tail when clearing that dungeon. I survived, and i noticed i got quite a lot of EXP for it. So i just asked in world chat if anyone ever noticed that. Some persons responded, explaining me that its indeed a great leveling place. One (Sorry i forgot your name) told me he leveled by pulling 14 groups, and then finished them off in a snap. So in this case it was luck, along with some assistance of the great community here ;) ~Silicia |

Although not a mage I know there are better places than Embercore 3. Personally have topped out at around 12-15K an hour but it is hard to keep that pace for long. I know a few mages were pulling higher than that because of their better AOE attacks. |

Well, re-spec to a mage. And in this guide, only read the 'how to pull' section and skip the Embercore 3 part since Embercore got changed last patch. |

Great Guide; but you can get xp alot faster; like 1k every 2 minutes.. thats like 20k an hour.. (including reset/picking up stuff time) By luring like 15+ group you wont even get hit alot by using a nice tactic called circeling around ;D Take a look at my guide.. Demonic Crypts... went from lvl 98 to lvl 100 in just under 3 hours of grinding. approxiamately 48k xp so about 16k xp an hour. Total int mage, all other stats were provided by gear boosts. Shadow lightening, gaseous blast, and ring of fire were my primary attacks with I think ice bolt on right click to finish single enemies. So all in all a very good guide but a rethink on the local needs to be done. and yes OP your's is very good also:) maybe some collaborationing needs to been done by all:) Gary -------------------- Bogey ~ Warmanger Steele - Lvl 20-something Ranger We are all one race.... Quote: and you expect Bogey to remember stuff like dates and thingies.... the toon with a default int of 1 because you can't have zero as a stat:)So kay I think before Demonic Crypts it was some place of lvl 7 of Shadows... Fade Caves<?> maybe it's on here some where but I always screw up searching for stuff... but I know when the newer build went on live they went away and became a library or some such Gary -------------------- Bogey ~ Warmanger Steele - Lvl 20-something Ranger We are all one race.... Demonic Crypts is where I spent most of my time leveling. I was specced as a mage and with some hardcore grinding I could do around 27k/hour (no picking up items, just kill/reset). Average runs when I was tuning out got me around 20k/hour. I started in the crypts at level 50 and it only became easier to kit. -------------------- ATLien - Level 100 Fighter, Mage, Ranger Combinator? Ecstacy - Level 11 Ranger |
