Rangers all the way!
#24914 - 06/19/07 02:34 PM

To steal the motto from the US Army.

Anyways, I'm noticing that the Ranger forum here is quite...dead. Is it cause no one likes Rangers? Maybe everyone likes to wade knee deep into the soon-to-be-dead monsters?

I'm a lvl 16 Ranger currently and enjoying it quite a bit. Love being able to mow down enemies as they come in a straight line towards me. Then when I'm surrounded a little Stomp action, Poison action, and some knockback if it gets too testy and it's back to mowing down baddies.

So for you Ranger fans. Let's hear from you.

OTOH, for those looking to build a Ranger. Find a Freakin' Fast bow. Really helps with fire rates.

I never understood why not many people liked rangers. We have the highest single target DPS. Fighters may have big crits, but they miss a lot more than rangers. Sure, fighters can pump agility to hit more and miss less, but when you pump your agility so high, you might as well become a ranger. Little rant I suppose.

Regarding a freaking fast bow, I'd say normal will suit you just fine. A normal crossbow with max rank Trigger Frenzy will shoot at .31 shots per second. A freaking fast xbow will shoot at .26 shots per second with maxed rank TF. The damage you lose from a freaking fast is severe compared to a normal -- remember, the slower the weapon, the higher damage range.

-Tachan, level 100 ranger...the first level 100 of Dungeon Runners.

Cool! thanks for the info. I'm pretty new at playing so I'm still trying to find out what works best as far as weapons are concerned.

But remember, TF doesnt max out til later levels, so might as well begin with freakin fast (or ludicrous even) and then work your way to slower weapons as you level.

Or, do as I do, use whatever looks the coolest!

And some of us like to use "better" weapons... one example being Shadow Lightning.
Rangers and Fighters depend muchly on gear - and member gear is great for them. Mages depend on int - which comes from levelling, so being a member doesn't make too big a difference.

(Lvl 18 Fighter - switched to Ranger - lvl 22 to 34 Mage)

Does killing groups of mobs go faster with a mage, or is that my imagination?

Lol, int doesnt come from leveling, it's 2/3rd or even more from equipment. And to be effective as a mage you need +elemental damage even more so. Which come directly from equipment. So Mages are just as equipment dependant as the other classes.

And yes, when it comes to killing hordes of mobs, mage is da s--t! But in hdol and other places where DPS on single target is more important, i prefer Ranger

After I saw Tachan slaughter the Shadow Queen in sub-ten seconds first hand... All I can say is, I'm going to be a ranger <_<

Eh? Less than 1/5 of my int(around 12,000 atm) comes from equipment.

Uh-oh... I'm feeling tempted to respecc... must not... put points in agi..

What is DPS? (Damage Per Shot?)

Basicly, average damage (min+max)/2 divided by weapon speed.
