Explain - no wait... sum up your Hybrid!
#24177 - 06/12/07 04:36 PM

I started as a melee, switched to a ranger, then to a mage. I like variety in the choices and trying to find what really works well. I've respecced 4 times and have had to buy just about every spell. I still don't think I've found what I'm looking for, so maybe you can list out your specs, spells, gear and say what kind of technique you have found to quickly mow down those baddies.

I'll start, I'm trying for a Battlemage that can do both decent physical and magic. (Leaving some blank until I can check in game)

Level = 45
Status = Member

Total STR =
Total AGI =
Total END =
Total INT =

Resists = Average of 120 in all.

Passives placed =

Left Mouse = Cleave
Right Mouse = Shadow Lightning

Skills Bar = BBQ Turk, enhance BBQ turk, ring of fire, poison gas, Reduce Armor.

Gear = 2 handed weapon - Sloth or Grandma speed - Items chosen have either STR and INT or AGI and END, Heavy Armor on all items, no preference given to +Speed or +Crit or leech. No rainbows all purples

Horrific Dungeon packs - Throw turkey into edge of pack to start the pack gathering and avoid the charging knockover mobs. Gather mobs tight, Hit reduce armor, Ring of Fire, Poison Gas, then alternate between the left mouse and the right mouse buttons, if healers are present, I go for them first. This usually has me going through 5 health and mana pots per pull.

Disadvantaged felt = Because all stats and skills have been hybrid'd up, killing seems to feel slow and health is still dropping too fast.

Anyone care to list out a hybrid model that kills fast, survivability and just fun?

You might be best off putting most all skill points ino only onw or two stats and rely on gear for the rest. Decide which is most necessary for you and hardest to find for your desired equipment, that might work well. As a mage and non-member, since boots and gloves offer very little significant stat boosts, I have them as whatever's the highest defense and end. Everything else is int leaning end gear with int every level up (I'm 10/10/20/130 base now). I'd imagine following a similar setup could work well. I imagine the idea should be to rely on gear the most for specific stats and bonuses and your level up points to be more focused in whatever area you feel is most important. If survivability seems to be your biggest concern yet you kill too slow, I'd mix str and int every level and rely on gear for end and agi, I'm sure by your level there must be plenty of great defense member gear that offers end, agi, and either str or int, and plenty of weapons that offer good melee AR. Though, if you die too fast, consider a one hander and shield combo, your shadow lightning, ring of fire, and gaseous blast should be offering more than enough AOE that a one hander won't significantly weaken your attack power, and the bonuses and stats from a shield could be very useful. See if that works, although I don't know if you've tried it yet.

I changed a few things the past couple of days.

Level now = 51

I have 2 of the passive mage (magic damage and increase INT )increasing skills, and 2 of the fighter passive (Increase END and melee speed) increasing skills.

I switched to duel weilding fastest rate one hander swords. and put 1hand increased speed on the bar.

I have all points into Intellect. My gear is all STR AGI END mixed. I have roughly...

Totals
STR=230
AGI=180
END=160
INT=255

I found 2 rainbow set pieces, the King's armor and the King's Mits. Jewelry has my magic defense on it.

I replaced the left mouse cleave with Sould rend.

Horrific at Level 3 Cinder core is going fast, AOE down the packs, kill the melee on me, chase the ranged. Done by Turkey leg, Acid blight, Ring of Fire, right mouse shadow bolt/melee hits until all fodder is down, then left mouse button only with sould rend.

Clearing packs much faster, using much less health and mana pots. The rest of my points will go into Agi to cut down on the misses.

My hybrid is melee/ranger a rogue so to say. I use fighter shoulders, gloves, and feet with str/end and ranger chest/head with agi/end. My overall hp @ Lvl 27 is 8.7K and Mana is at 1.3K. My abilities are as follows...

L Soul Rend
1 Gym Freak
2 Average BMI
3 Way of the Roo
4 Mental Prowness
5 1h Swivel Arm Action
6 Toxic Talent
7 Retribution or Ring of Fire
8 Gaseous Blast
R Cleave or Holy Roller

I dual weild two yellow Scimitars atm (I have yet to seea purple one) and have +7% slash dmg/+5% melee spd so I average around 800 dmg on each hand @ 0.38 speed. I built the char with high end/str/agi then went 2 str/2 agi/1 end after that. I have about 10 points thrown into Int.

I have been running what would be a "Shadow Knight" sort of character. A fighter with AoE attacks to clear out the riff-raff. Poison cloud works well to basically stop mobs from healing then Shadow Lightening to clear out the weak and soften up a bigger mob I'm focusing on.

Lightening, Smack, lightening, Smack by with Poison thrown in as necessary. By the time 1st big mob goes down all the little ones are gone. Then I just use weapon. Armor's main focus is on defense and resistance.

And of course I have the resistance powers.
