Power Mage Guide
#24131 - 06/12/07 04:38 AM |
Ok here's the build, it's different, it's going to get criticized, I don't care, it's my build ![]() Level Up Point Distribution: 3 INT, 1 AGI, 1 END - every time I level up Low Level Skills: Shadow Lightning, Gaseous Blast, Soul Rend I'll add more soon That's a simple guide for a simple game haha. |

Well, I dont know about different and unique. It's the old Battlemage build ![]() But yes, I like it and sometimes use a similar setup. You might wanna include your passive skills in your guide though ^.^ Soul rend do mean damage with a mage's high int and killer against bosses. But dont worry too much about point distribution, most of it comes from equip anyway. -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

You only need int and end to hit with your melee weapon? Now that's new to me... Read what he posted "a bit different build". His purpous is to put shadow lightning on mouse button and then just keep it pressed until he's level 100 really. While shadow lightning cools down, he get to swing a few times with his melee weapon. There's where the agi comes in play. And against bosses you can use this build to pop some soul rends in between. -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |

Well, i think your better of using a ranged weapon with this kind of build. You see, Agi increases chance to hit, and ranged damage. If you use a melee weapon, it will only give the change to hit bonus. With a ranged weapon equipped you will get the change to hit + the damage bonus it offers. Also, you should consider going ranged because of the ranger skills. Ranger damage skills scale up as your INT increases, so they offer mighty damage. In fact, they scale up so well that poison shot does more damage then Soul Rend for me (400-1600 Rends against 1025-2200 Poison shot for me). Honestly dictates me to tell that Poison Shot is up to my level and Rend not, but the difference should be minor at equal ranks. Second, Nox Shot is very handy when using this build. Nox is essentially the same as a ranged Gas Blast. And just like gas blast, it doesn't have a limit in the number of targets it can hit. I have been ranger/mage myself, and the only reason im only using mage skills now, is that i went pure INT and began missing with ranged skills a lot. But with 1 agi a level, it should do really nice. Since a bow is ranged, you also wont charge in, causing the mobs to have to come to you, making you take less hits. Also, you wont screw up in HDOL when using ranged since the mobs will stay put. Just my thoughts on this . Agi simply has more use when combined with a ranged weapon. However, Feel free to completely disagree with me though, since a build is completely personal.~Silicia |

I take the mentioned ranger skills into consideration. Let me elaborate a bit more on the build: Power Mage. What I'm looking to do essentially is tank (a.k.a. not care about taking damage) with a mage. Also I would like to say that I solo 100% of my playtime, i don't group simply because I play solo, all the time. I am thinking of adding holy roller as my next skill, I'm not putting points into the shadow spell mastery skill, I'm also not putting points into ring of fire. I'm sticking with soul rend for big pops on bosses, shadow lightning to outlast everything in my path, and gaseous blast to drain hp on large groups where my SL only hits about half of the group that is attacking me. Believe it or not, I am using 6 of my skill slots on passive skills. I have soul rend on left click, SL on right click, and gaseous blast on my 1st hotkey, 2nd hotkey currently blank but I'm going to add holy roller. Another words, I'm going to be in the thick of things. Currently I'm sticking to the point distribution of 3 int 1 agi 1 end. I need hp to take damage, I need mana to fuel my improved shadow lightning which is coming soon, and I need agi to keep my soul rend accurate to the point that if I swing 3 times I'm going to hit at least once--I'm happy with that. I'm level 15 and I've made it through to Algore's Terror-Dome completely solo, and I don't drink potions. If you drink potions constantly you don't need a skill guide, you need a "how to make enough gold to supply your potions" guide I'm having a blast ![]() |

Two things about this game: Gold comes in plenty. Buy retribution and you will have an answer to your last question immediatly (since you can see the next level of it). Heck, i bought every single skill there is, even the pointless ones that i never use. ALL players who play solo is a tank in this game. Every single build is made to whitstand the damage. Im sure someone will reply 'yah? but in my ranger build i utilize spirit of the hare and kite stuff!'. Sorry, with the lag of this game (which makes some mobs 'super dash run' towards you), it aint gonna happen. And IF you succeed, all you've accomplished is a very very slow killer ^.^. But since the low difficulty of this game you will rarely, if ever, need more than 10k hp (maybe a few thousands more if you dont pay attention when playing). Put the rest into offensive stats (int/agi/str, depending on your skill setup). To sum things up: You got the gold, respec is cheap, get all the skills and dont worry too much about the future of your build, you can always changĂȘ! (I switch between fighter/mage like every second day or so ^.^) -------------------- Jinxed - Lvl 100 -------------------- |
